Nashua Boys Split, Girls Lose Two

The Nashua boys picked up a 72-51 win over the Bearcubs in Frazer Jan. 21 before falling 72-28 to the Lions at home Jan. 24. The girls lost their games 54-22 to Frazer and 54-29 to Lustre.

Boys

Nashua took a 21-13 lead over Frazer in the first quarter and improved on it with a 15-5 run in the second. The Porcupines led 58-34 after three. They were outscored 17-15 in the final eight minutes as they held on for the 73-51 win.

Bubba Pugh led all scorers with 16 points. Noah Leckie connected for 22 and Charlie Kaasa added 17 points. Blaze Bleazard scored 6 and Zander Schulte 2 points.

The Porcupines fell behind 26-10 after 8 against Lustre and were outscored 23-4 in the second. Nashua scored 9 in the third as the Lions put up 23 points. The Porcupines went on a 5-0 run in the fourth but lost 72-28.

Leckie led the team with 13 points. Pugh scored 6 and Schulte 5 points. Kaasa and Wyatt Sibley added 2 points each.

Girls

Nashua trailed 14-4 against Frazer after the first quarter and 29-6 at the half. The Porcupines put up 10 in the third but the Bearcubs added 14 points. They were outscored 11-6 in the fourth for the 54-22 loss.

Gracyn Sibley scored 8 to lead Nashua. Katey Dykstra and Courtney Tolzien both added 6 while Dyllan Bergstrom put up 2 points.

The Porcupines also trailed after one against the Lions, 16-5. Nashua was outscored 15-12 in the second as the Lions carried a 31-17 lead into the second half. The Porcupines put up 6 in the third and fourth quarters but the Lions added 12 and 11 in the same frames as Nashua fell 54-29.

Dykstra led all scorers with 17 points. Bergstrom scored 6 while Sibley and Tolzien both put 2 points in the book.

Nashua is scheduled to play the Coyotes in Dodson Friday, Jan. 31. The Porcupines host the Terry Terriers Saturday, Feb. 1.
