Lustre Girls, Boys Win Over Nashua

Both the Lustre Christian girls and boys basketball teams won their games over the Porcupines in Nashua Jan. 24. The girls won their game 54-29 while the boys posted a 72-28 victory.

Girls

Lustre started the game with a 16-5 run in the first quarter and led 31-17 at the half. They scored 12 in the third and 11 in the fourth while holding Nashua to 6 points in each of the same quarters for the 54-29 win.

Lauren Fast led Lustre with 13 points. Samantha Neufeld and Lauryn Holzrichter both added 11 to the score sheet. Sidney Klatt ascored 6 followed by Ashtyn Traeholt, and Hannah Brown, both with 4, and Abby Olfert with 2 points. The Lions had 38 rebounds as a team.

Boys

The Lions ran up a 26-10 lead over the Porcupines in the first 8 minutes and increased the margin to 49-14 at the half. Lustre added another 23 in the third quarter while holding Nashua to 9 points. The Lions did not score in the final 8 minutes while Nashua put up 5 as the Lions won 72-28.

Byron Ewing led all scorers with 23 points. Johnslee Pierre scored 12 and Cam Reddig 11 points. Diek Olfert connected for 8 followed by Joel Reddig, 7, and Clay Reddig, 6 points. Hadden Olfert added 3 and Prestyn Klatt 2 points.

Lustre is scheduled to play the Bearcubs in Frazer Friday, Jan. 31, with games at 5:30 and 7 p.m. The Lions travel to Bainville Saturday, Feb. 1, to play the Bulldogs with games scheduled for 1, 2:30, 4 and 5:30 p.m.
