Frazer And Glasgow Speech And Drama Are State Bound

Eight From Glasgow And One From Frazer Will Compete

Both the Glasgow and Frazer Speech and Drama team competed in the Eastern B/C Divisional meet at Froid on Jan. 25. Both teams have had a successful season so far, and they kept up that momentum through the Divisional meet. Both teams will be sending competitors to the State meet next weekend, Jan. 31 through Feb. 1 at Huntley Project. Those who placed first through sixth in their events will advance onto the State meet.

Frazer sophomore Marick Old Person placed third in Program Oral Interpretation (POI). This is his second year going to State, with last year’s competiting in spontaneous oral interpretation (SPOI). Senior Takoa Old Person placed 10th in humorous oral interpretation (HOI). This was her second year in Speech and Drama in the same category and according to coach Mary Zuchowski there was some very tough competition in this category this year. Though she will not be competing on the State level, she will still be attending to support her brother, Marick.

Glasgow also had a successful Divisional meet, placing third in Class B Speech Sweeps as a team. Those who punched their ticket to state are Kai Combs in dramatic oral interpretation (DOI) due to their fifth place showing; Connor Whitmer in spontaneous oral interpretation (SPOI) due to his first place showing; James Pearson in impromptu due to his second place showing; Gabe Proctor in humorous oral interpretation (HOI) due to his fourth place showing; and Gabe Allen in Lincoln Douglas Debate due to his sixth place showing.

All over the state of Montana, B/C Divisional was having their competitions and Glasgow competes in the East Division. However during the other division competitions, the North Division did not have enough competitors to send to state in Humorous Solo and Humorous Theater. As a result, Mirax Lipscomb, who placed seventh in Divisionals, and Cody Lacock and Emmy Gutow, who placed eighth in Divisionals, will also compete at State in their events.

The complete placings for Glasgow is as follows:
