Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
Reflections On My First Week As Your Representative
As I write this, I am filled with a deep sense of gratitude and responsibility for the opportunity to represent you in the Montana House of Representatives. On day one I was sworn in as your legislator by Judge Luke Savage of Sidney, Montana—a moment I will always remember.
Standing there, I felt the weight of the trust you’ve placed in me and the duty I now carry to serve our district with integrity, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to our shared values.
I also had the privilege of witnessing the Governor’s inauguration on the steps of the Capitol. It was a beautiful day filled with the hope and optimism I can only imagine accompanies the beginning of each new legislative session. The ceremony was a celebration of democracy and a call to action for all of us to work together to move Montana forward.
In addition, week one included attending my first committee meetings: Taxation and Health & Human Services. These committees address critical issues that affect the everyday lives of all Montanans—and certainly issues important to/in NE Montana. Property tax reform, access to rural healthcare, and sustainable long-term care facilities are front and center for the well-being of our families and communities. Listening to testimony, asking questions, and beginning to understand the intricate processes involved has been both humbling and inspiring. I am learning quickly that every voice matters, and every decision carries profound implications for the people we serve.
As I navigate the early days of this journey, I am struck by how much there is to learn and how important it is to approach this role with humility and an open mind. This process is not just about passing laws; it’s about listening to you, my constituents, and ensuring your voices are heard in every decision I make.
This first week has reminded me of the immense privilege it is to represent House District 29. I am here because of you, and I will work tirelessly to ensure your priorities are reflected in the policies we shape and the decisions we make.
Thank you for entrusting me with this responsibility. I look forward to keeping you updated throughout the session, and I encourage you to reach out with your thoughts, concerns, and ideas. Together, we can build a brighter future for our district and our great state.
Sincerely,
Representative Valerie Moore, HD29
