Frazer Girls Win In Lustre; Boys Lose

The Frazer girls basketball team moved into second place in District 3C with a win over the Lustre Lions on the road Jan. 3 while the boys fell to 0-3 in the conference. The girls hold a 2-1 conference record, 4-3 overall, while the boys team is 0-7 overall.

The Frazer girls won 70-60 while the boys fell 84-10.

Girls

The Bearcubs rushed out to a 15-8 lead in the first quarter over the Lions in Lustre. They put up 18 in the second while holding the Lions to 10 for a 33-18 lead at the half. Both teams put up 22 in the third while Lustre outpaced Frazer 20-15 in the fourth as Frazer won 70-60.

Baily Beston led the Bearcubs with 27 points, five rebounds, one steal, two blocks and an assist. Audrey Smoker hit for 16 points. BriAnna Beston added 14 points, five rebounds, five steals and four assists. Maci Fourstar put up 10 points with six steals and eight assists.

Isabella Fourstar scored 4 with four rebounds, four steals and five assists. Lola Romero added 2 points.

Boys

Frazer fell behind Lustre after being shut out in the first quarter as the Lions racked up 25 points. The Lions led 51-3 at the half and outscored the Bearcubs 16-2 in the third. Frazer connected for 5 in the final eight minutes but Lustre added another 17 for the 84-10 win over the Bearcubs.

Gabriel Beston and Bryce Fourstar both hit for 3 while Zayden Hentges and Jarvis Goodbird scored 2 points each.

Frazer is set to host the Scobey Spartans Friday, Jan. 10, with games at 5:30 and 7 p.m. The Bearcubs will play the Coyotes in Dodson Saturday, Jan. 11.
