Barbara Johnson

Barbara Ellen (Thiel) Johnson, age 78, went to be with her wonderful lord and savior on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024. Barbara passed away at Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital, Glasgow, Mont., with family by her side.

Barbara was born in Sidney, Mont. to Raymond and Lucy Thiel on Nov. 22, 1946. She attended school in Sidney graduating in 1964. After graduation she went to work for the Lower Yellowstone Irrigation District as a secretary.

On April 30, 1966, she was united in marriage to Raymond Johnson and moved to Nebraska where they lived for 10 years. While in Nebraska, they welcomed the birth of their daughter, Debbie. They moved to Glasgow in 1976 where she did daycare and eventually was employed at the Cottonwood Inn for 28 years. Barbara was a night auditor and worked her way up to front desk supervisor. She retired in May 2014 due to medical reasons.

Barbara enjoyed traveling with her siblings, taking yearly trips to Vegas. She had a devout faith with her Lord and Savior, and enjoyed going to church. Barbara loved her family and enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Barbara was preceded in death by husband Raymond; seven brothers, Chet, Stanley, Chuck, Gerald, Gordon, Delmar, and Arnold; four sisters, Shirley Baxter, Darlene Doleney, Janice Shipp and infant sister Lois; nephew Jeff; and two nieces, Delight and Annette.

She is survived by her brother, Raymond Jr .; daughter Debbie Wixson (Doug); grandchildren, Chelsey Nelson, Jaycee Wixson (Coltyn), Carissa Weyrauch (Blake); great-grandchildren Adeline and Alden Nelson, Kinsley and Clyde Weyrauch; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Jan. 2, 11 a.m. at the Glasgow Evangelical Church. Burial followed at the Highland Cemetery in Glasgow. A luncheon was held following burial at the Glasgow Evangelical Church.
