Boys Drop Two
Frazer's girls basketball team won 76-37 on the road in Nashua Dec. 17 but came out flat against North Country at home Dec. 20 for a 68-24 loss. The Bearcub boys fell 83-55 to the Porcupines and 69-23 to the Mavericks at home.
Girls
The Bearcubs raced out to a 31-7 lead in the first eight minutes against the Porcupines and built up their lead to 45-13 at the half. Frazer went on a 20-9 run in the third but were outscored 15-11 in the last eight minutes for the 76-37 win.
Baily Beston led her team with 20 points, eight rebounds and one steal. Audrey Smoker scored 17 with 12 rebounds for a double-double double with one steal and two blocks. BriAnna Beston scored 15 with 11 steals for another Frazer double-double with three rebounds.
Maci Fourstar put up 16 points with four rebounds and eight steals. Isabelle Fourstar hit for 5 points with two rebounds and six steals. Elli Mail scored 3 with one steal.
Frazer struggled against North Country, going down by 10 in the first quarter, 16-6. They put up 9 in the second but the visitors added 21 to their side of the scoreboard. The Bearcubs trailed 47-18 after three and were outscored 11-6 in the final eight minutes for the 68-24 loss.
M. Fourstar led the team with 13 points, three steals, three assists, four rebounds and one block. Smoker put up 4 points with six rebounds. Baily Beston scored 3 with one steal, one assist and three blocks. BriAnna Beston added 2 points, two steals, one assist and one rebound. Mail added 2 points, one assist and one rebound.
Boys
Frazer fell behind 31-18 in the first in Nashua and trailed 40-31 at the half. They put up 6 in the third as the Porcupines added 24 and were outscored by one in the fourth as Nashua won 83-55.
Gabriel Beston led the Bearcubs with 23 while Cassius Smoker put up 19 points. Bryce Fourstad scored 8 and Zayden Hentges 5 points.
At home against the Mavericks, the Bearcubs fell behind 18-9 against the much taller team. They trailed 40-11 at the half and 61-18 after three after losing Beston and Hentges to injuries. Frazer was outscored 8-7 in the final eight minutes for the 69-23 loss.
Fourstar led the Frazer boys with 8 while Hentges put up 6 before leaving the game. Smoker scored 5 and Beston connected for 4 before his injury.
Frazer will host Lustre and travel to Dodson in the first weekend of the new year. Lustre will be in Frazer Friday, Jan 3, for games at 5:30 and 7 p.m. The Bearcubs will play the Coyotes in Dodson Saturday, Jan. 4, at 5:30 and 7 p.m.
