Scottie Girls Split At Red Lodge

The Scottie girls basketball team split their games at the Red Lodge Tournament this past weekend. The Scotties fell 54-43 Dec. 13 to the Big Timber Sheepherders but recovered with a 59-13 drubbing of the Joliet J-Hawks.

Glasgow held tight with Big Timber in the first quarter, trailing 16-15 after the first eight. The Sheepherders took a 35-20 lead into the half after outscoring the Scotties 19-5 in the second. Glasgow edged Big Timber 11-9 in the third and 12-10 in the fourth but lost 54-43.

Hayden Green led Glasgow with 17 points. Mayzie Yoakam added 9 and Paityn Britzman 7 points. Tanae Baker and Joely Chappell each scored 5 for Glasgow. Additional stats were not available.

The Scotties came out hungry against Joliet and ran up the score 32-3 in the first eight minutes on the court. Glasgow carried a 43-9 lead into the second half after an 11-6 second quarter. They held the J-Hawks to a single free throw in the third quarter and put 13 more in the scorebook. Both teams scored 3 in the fourth as Glasgow won 59-13.

Yoakam led all scorers with 18 followed by Britzman with 15 points. Macy Martin connected for 7 while Chappell, Green and Hannah Holinde all added 5 points. Baker put up 4 points. Additional stats were not available.

The Scotties return to action after the Christmas break. They will play in Wolf Point Friday, Jan. 3, 2025, and host Rocky Boy Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025.
