The Scottie boys basketball team won two games at the Red Lodge Tournament this past weekend. Glasgow defeated the Big Timber Sheepherders 72-40 Dec. 13 and beat the Joliet J-Hawks by a 56-46 margin.
The Scotties came out hot against the Sheepherders and took a 25-6 lead in the first quarter. Both teams put up 15 in the second for a 40-21 Glasgow lead at the half. Big Timber outscored Glasgow 14-12 in the third but the Scotties went on a 20-4 run in the final eight minutes for the win.
Cade Hudyma led all scorers with 27 points. Grady Nielsen added 19 while Wyatt Babb scored 11 points. Gage Waarvik put 8 on the score sheet followed by Myles Yoakam with a three-pointer. Nick Solorzano, Trey Graham and Connor Hudyma each added 2 points. Yoakam had six assists followed by Babb with five and Connor Hudyma with four helpers. Noah Runner, Nielsen, Solorzano and Graham added one helper each.
Cade Hudyma notched a double-double with 10 rebounds. Babb grabbed eight while Nielsen and Yoakam pulled down five boards each. Solorzano grabbed three followed by Sugg, Waarvik, Connor Hudyma and Graham with one a piece. Yoakam led in steals with four while Babb and Waarvik both had two. Sugg, Nielsen and Connor Hudyma had one takeaways each. Babb and Cade Hudyma both had a block.
Glasgow put in 12 points in the first against Joliet while holding the J-Hawks to 10. The Scotties went on a 21-9 run in the second for a 33-19 lead heading into the second half. They outpaced Joliet 12-9 in the third before the J-Hawks fought back in the final eight minutes with 18 to the Scotties’ 11 points, giving Glasgow the 10-point win.
Cade Hudyma led Glasgow with 21 points followed by Yoakam with 15 points. Nielsen put in 10. Solorzano hit a trey while Connor Hudyma had a bucket and a free throw. Noah Runner hit two free throws for Glasgow. Nielsen led in assists with three while Connor Hudyma, Yoakam and Cade Hudyma had one a piece.
Cade Hudyma hit another double-double with 17 rebounds, 12 defensive and five offensive. Nielsen pulled down six and Connor Hudyma had five boards. Babb and Solorzano each grabbed four while Yoakam had two rebounds. Cade Hudyma and Solorzano both had one steal. Yoakam stopped two shot and Nielsen and Solorzano had one block each.
The Scotties return to action after the Christmas break. They will play in Wolf Point Friday, Jan. 3, 2025, and host Rocky Boy Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025.
