Nashua Boys Beat Wolf Point JV, Girls Lose

The Nashua boys basketball team beat the Wolf Point JV Wolves 77-33 at home Dec. 13 while the girls team fell in a tight 34-32 battle.

The Porcupine boys held even at 12-12 against the Wolves in the first quarter before going on a 21-5 run in the second for a 33-17 lead heading into the third. Nashua held Wolf Point to 8 points in the third and fourth while scoring 19 and 25 in the same quarters for the 44-point win.

Bubba Pugh set the net on fire with 51 points hitting four three-pointers and 19 two-pointers as well as 1-of-2 free throws. Noah Leckie added 11 points. Charlie Kaasa hit two treys while Blaze Bleazard added 5 and Zander Schulte 4 points.

The girls team put up 11 in the first while holding the Wolves to 7 points. Nashua led 21-13 at the half and 27-18 after three quarters. Wolf Point went on a 16-5 run in the fourth to steal the 2-point win from Nashua.

Gracyn Sibley led all scorers with 14 points. Katey Dykstra scored 7 and Dyllan Bergstrom 5 points. Courtney Tolzien hit for 4 and Brittany Fuller 2 points.

Nashua was scheduled to host the Frazer Bearcubs Dec. 17 but scores were unavailable at press time.

The Porcupines travel to Lustre Thursday, Dec. 19, for a girls game at 6 p.m. and a boys game at 7:30 p.m.
