Glasgow Wrestlers Shine At Scottie Invitational

The Glasgow JV wrestling teams hit the road Dec. 12 for the Wolf Point Mixer where the girls went 4-4 and the boys posted a 9-3 record. The Scotties hosted the 29th Annual Scottie Invitational Wrestling Tournament Dec. 13 and 14. The boys finished in second place at home with 166 team points while the girls put up 50 team points for ninth place. A record 30 schools attended this year's Invite as 30 schools brought boys teams and 27 brought girls teams.

Lana Mason, 125 lbs., led the Scottie JV girls in Wolf Point with a 2-0 record, winning with two falls. Chloe Lamb, 125 lbs., and Riley Pedersen, 110 lbs., both went 1-1 while Avery Pedersen, 125 lbs., dropped her two matches.

Weston Kirkland, Makiya Plummer and John Yeska all went 2-0 for the boys JV team. Kirkland, 110 lbs., and Plummer, 118 lbs., had two falls each while Yeska, 132 lbs., won by fall and tech fall. Jack Morehouse, 103 lbs., went 1-1 and Alex Earll, 126 lbs., went 0-2 while Tyler King, 132 lbs., won his match. Ernie Vandall, 285 lbs., lost his match.

At home, Glasgow put five wrestlers at the top of the podium. Morehouse, 103 lbs., Khye Gamas, 157 lbs., and William Kirkland, 165 lbs., earned first places for the Scottie boys. Madison Lamb, 140 lbs., and Riley Clampitt, 145 lbs., won in the girls competition.

Morehouse won by fall over Anson Taylor of Circle. Gamas won by technical fall over Choteau's Nathan Gunderson and William Kirkland beat Alex Wahl of Cut Bank by a 7-6 decision.

M. Lamb went the distance against Custer County's Kaylee Orcutt and won by a 9-8 decision. Clampitt earned an 8-1 decision over Ryann Gorder of Baker.

Michael King took second place for the boys at 190 lbs. Weston Kirkland, 110 lbs., and T. King, 132 lbs., both took fifth place while Plummer, 118 lbs., finished in eighth place for the boys. C. Lamb, 125 lbs., placed eighth place.

The Scottie grapplers have three events this week before the Christmas break. The Fort Benton Mixer boys is Thursday, Dec. 19. Glasgow will attend the 47th Annual CMR Holiday Invitational in Great Falls Friday and Saturday, Dec. 20 and 21. The Walt and Trudy Curry Memorial JV Invitational at Great Falls High is Saturday, Dec. 21.
