The Glasgow Scottie wrestling teams opened their season at the Sidney Eagle Duals and the Sidney Eagle Invitational, held Dec. 6 and 7. Glasgow placed eighth in the Dual tournament on Friday. They defeated Mead, Colo., 36-34 before falling 38-30 to Oak Harbor, Ohio, and 27-51 to Rapid City Stevens, S.D.
Defending state champion Khye Gamas led the Scotties with a first place showing at 157 lbs. in boys varsity action. He defeated Huntley Project’s Grady Schmidt with a 14-0 decision in a rematch from last season’s state championship match. William Kirkland placed second in the 165 lbs. category while Jack Morehouse claimed third at 103 lbs. Michael King earned fourth place at 175 lbs. with Tyler King finishing in eighth at 143 lbs.
Madison Lamb, 140 lbs., and Riley Clampitt, 145 lbs., both earned second place in the girls competition for Glasgow. Lana Mason earned fourth at 125 lbs., while Bailey Dooley took fifth at 120 lbs. Riley Pedersen finished in seventh place at 110 lbs.
Weston Kirkland paced the JV team with a first place showing at 110 lbs. Ernie Vandall finished in fourth at 285 lbs. Alex Earll took seventh at 126 lbs. and John Yeska placed eighth at 132 lbs.
Glasgow will host the GHS Scottie Wrestling Invite Friday and Saturday, Dec. 13 and 14, with doors opening at noon Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday. The Scottie JV and middle school teams are scheduled to attend the Wolf Point Mixer Thursday, Dec. 12, at 5 p.m.
