Glasgow Celebrates With Tree Lighting, Polar Plunge Fundraiser And Santa
Beautiful winter weather set the stage for the Glasgow Chamber's annual Christmas Stroll, Parade of Lights and Tree Lighting on Dec. 7.
Santa arrived in Glasgow at 1 p.m., making stops at Reynolds and Albertsons then visited with area children at the Sean R. Heavey gallery. Santa heard many stories on how children have been good this year and their requested items for the holidays.
The Middle of Nowhere Polar Plunge had over 50 jumpers and beat their goal by raising over $14,000. Prior to the event, Glasgow officer Josh Ames stated they had two goals, one was to raise $13,000 and to beat Havre's amount, led by former Valley County Sheriff's Deputy Alex Estavez. Havre raised $13,400 for the event.
The Tree Lightening Ceremony started with the Glasgow High School Swing Choir once again setting the mood with Christmas carols prior to the lighting of the big tree in front of the Glasgow Post Office. Everyone then enjoyed downtown shopping while waiting for the Parade of Lights to start. With the theme of "Techno Christmas" everyone who participated had creative ideas as they made their way downtown.
