Next Stop Is Wolf Point On Dec. 7
For another year, the Frazer High School has a small but mighty speech and drama team, under the direction of coach Mary Zuchowski. Senior Takoa Old Person participates in Humorous Interpretation (HI) and sophomore Marick Old Person participates in Spontaneous Oral Interpretation (SPOI).
So far this season, they have traveled to Sidney, Miles City, Fairview and Circle to compete and both competitors have consistently making it into the Finals and placing in the top six.
In the latest competition in Circle on Nov. 23, T. Old Person placed fifth in HI while M. Old Person placed fourth in SPOI.
The team of two with their coach will travel to Wolf Point for their next meet on Saturday, Dec. 7.
Competitive Speech & Drama is an extra-curricular activity that provides students with the opportunity to compete at the local, divisional, and state level in 15 MHSA sanctioned events. An educational opportunity exists for students who participate in the sanctioned events.
Students participating in the Speech events learn about writing and/or presenting original informative and persuasive speeches (Original Oratory and Expository speaking), oral interpretations (HOI and SOI), speeches by famous authors (Memorized Public Address), speaking with little preparation time (Impromptu and Extemporaneous speaking), and using appropriate debate techniques (Policy or Team Debate, and Lincoln-Douglas Debate).
