Law Enforcement Report

For the week of Nov. 25 through Dec. 1, there were 16 motor vehicle stops, two reports for public assistance, one report of loose dogs, one report of loose livestock and one report of a deer being hit by a vehicle.

Friday, Nov. 22

1553 – A motor vehicle accident was reported. A rotational tow was requested because the tire is not driveable.

1811 – Phillips County SO said they received a complaint that a semi is driving like crazy. It’s passing everyone and kicking up snow so traffic can’t see. They are also driving in the left hand lane. She was also told that it may have run some vehicles off the road but doesn’t know if the caller was just saying that. Direction of travel for the semi was provided. Valley County deputy requested Highway Patrol and GPD was notified. At 1854, deputy advised he wasn’t able to catch up to the semi.

2034 – Reporting party said someone stopped in at the station and requested that he report that between Fort Peck and Flowing Wells is nothing but black ice. Dispatch called the after hours number for DOT and advised them of the situation.

Saturday, Nov. 23

0123 – Wheatland County reporting a 911 call from a person in Glasgow saying there is a man standing in his yard with a long pole. Officer spoke to the reporting party and they can’t see anything now.

1542 – MHP Dispatch called to report they got a call from someone who would not identify themselves. There is a complaint of a vehicle that was parked in front of the bar for the last couple of days. The vehicle is on private property and no one has called it in to report locally.

Monday, Nov. 25

1734 – Caller reported that someone was shooting at deer from the road. The reporting party and his children were in the vicinity of the direction that they were shooting. The description of the vehicle and location was provided.

1748 – Reporting party stated there’s a fire, but is not sure if it’s a controlled burn. Dispatch confirmed there is a burn permit and they called the number listed. The woman said they are still burning and everything is okay.

1816 – Caller said she’s trying to reach her brother and his girlfriend in Wolf Point. She’s not able to reach them by phone. Dispatch provided the phone number for Roosevelt 911.

Tuesday, Nov. 26

0806 – An employee called in to report a vehicle parked. She states when she went out to get the plate of the vehicle she found someone is in the vehicle. The vehicle is loaded with stuff and the person was covered up in a sleeping bag. While on the phone, the vehicle left the location.

1206 – Reporting party called in to advise they just had a drive off for $45. A description of the vehicle was provided as well as direction of travel. Deputy traveled from US Highway 2 back to Glasgow and was unable to locate the vehicle.

1525 – Reporting party called to report someone hit her fence and brick wall. This would have happened on the kids’ lunch time. She had left just before their lunch and everything was fine. She just got home 15 minutes ago and it has been hit. She stated you can see the tracks in the snow where they hit it then backed out.

1712 – Caller reported that someone is doing “cookies” in an open field. She said they are keeping people up at night. This usually happens between 2300 and midnight. Caller was patched up with a deputy.

2012 – Emergency road side assistance stated they have a stranded vehicle. A description of the location was provided as well as the name and phone number of the stranded driver. It was stated the driver was locked out of the vehicle. He was able to gain entry but now the car won’t start. A wrecker was contacted however when arriving on scene was unable to locate the vehicle. After deputy arrived at location, it was determined the vehicle is back on the road and is no longer in need of assistance.

Wednesday, Nov. 27

1419 – Caller reported a vehicle/hunter that is just driving out in the middle of the field. A description of the vehicle was provided. Deputy and Fish and Game were notified. Fish and Game was able to get in touch with the land owner and the people have permission to be there.

1635 – Caller reported he was involved in a two-vehicle accident. There are no injuries. A description of both vehicles were provided.

Thursday, Nov. 28

0047 – Deputy advised while patrolling he found a door at the school propped open. RCSO was contacted to request a Tribal Officer to come and help the deputy clear the school.

0131 – Reporting party called and said she just got home from Billings and discovered that someone had “wiped out” her mailbox and her trash can. She said her neighbor’s mailbox was also struck and is laying out in the middle of the road. An officer took photos of the damage and also advised that someone would need to call the City as a fire hydrant was knocked off its position. Two more calls were made regarding someone ripping through the yard and damaging the fire hydrant.

1803 – Caller states at her grandfather’s abandoned house, there are dogs barking more so than usual. She believes there might be someone inside the house that shouldn’t be there. The house is boarded up in the front but she did notice the boards are missing. A deputy arrived at 1844, and advised the only tracks are dog tracks. The door was open but the building looks unsafe for anyone to enter.

1845 – The reporting party was sitting in her living room and heard a very loud boom, which she thought was a gunshot. She stated there were hunters in the area of MT Highway 24. The male at the house states the sound could be anywhere. At 1854, another 911 call was received from a nearby neighbor who reported the same. She states she has owned guns and what she heard she believes is a rifle. Information was passed along to a deputy. At 1908, a third caller states that his renter reported to him they heard the same boom and it was very loud. No one reports seeing anyone around or any type of flash/light. At 1928, it was reported a deputy patrolled the area and could not find anything.

Friday, Nov. 29

2115 – Reporting party said someone parked a car in their driveway and they can’t get out. He doesn’t know who the car belongs to. Officer later advised he left a voicemail for the registered owner and the registered owner was able to get in contact with the officer. Arrangements were made to move the vehicle..

Saturday, Nov. 30

0949 – Reporting party stated he followed a puppy with a cone on to a residence. He stated the door was wide open. He called inside and no one answered. There was a cat that came to the door. The reporting party is concerned something is off at the residence and stated he would stay there until a deputy arrived. At 1002, reporting party called back to state he contacted someone across the street. He was going to head home as he was cold, but the deputy had arrived. The deputy also spoke with the neighbor across the street and it was stated the door was accidentally left open. The deputy was able to make contact with the resident and everything is fine. The wind blew the door open.

1147 – Caller with the alarm company reported a fire alarm. Dispatch looked up the address and the address came back to the building that has been removed. While officer was heading to the location, the alarm company called back and stated the alarm was false. Dispatch advised the building in question should not have an alarm as it no longer is at that location.

1900 – Reporting party stated one of his employees took what could be a counterfeit $100 bill. He does not have a pen to check it, it does appear to have the stripe, but the whole bill looks thin. Officer advised it appears to be an older bill.

2054 – Caller reported a possible chimney fire. There was smoke everywhere and was rumbling. The homeowner on scene closed the flue and is still seeing smoke. It was determined there was no smoke or flames appearing.
