The Highways had near white out conditions when meeting traffic Friday evening, with the swirling snowfall of 4-5 inches. Welcome to winter, folks!

A few schedule changes: The LCHS Christmas concert will be held Dec. 3, at the High School gym at 7 p.m. The Lustre Grade School Christmas program begins at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 5. at the Grade School gym.

The Drama Department of the LCHS will present an original play entitled “The Lost Travelor” at 7 p.m. at the LGS gym. The MB Church community Christmas party was at 6:30 Monday, Dec. 2 with the theme “Jesus is the Reason for the Season.”

LCHS Foundation board members Keith Unger and Wilbur Unrau welcomed the One Hundred Club to their dessert night, with 31 attending. He began the evening with a tribute to Mr. James Soft, who was instrumental in getting the MT Tax Credit through the legislature, and was nationally known and respected for his work for foundations including LCHS. He passed away Oct. 29, 2024, after more than 50 years service to Yellowstone Boys Ranch in Billings. Mr. Unger read his obituary, highlighting his BA at Eastern & MA in science, MA at DTS, as well as his leading choir and teaching in Billings.

He then reported to the alumni of LCHS the grant projects they had been able to provide to LCHS in 2024. They include dorm siding and repairs, a boiler, curriculum and equipment for the various classes, sports programs.

Keith stated, “It takes a joint effort to help Christian Education succeed.” Besides the financial overview, Mr. Unger gave us a history of the foundation, which began with articles of incorporation in 1998. Principal Bob Burkhard thanked the LCHS Board for “their creative and sensitive way the foundation supports their board.” He assured them “the staff and faculty of the school pray daily for the community as something we can do in thanksgiving for your support.” The foundation budget was presented, and questions answered. It was an informative and fun evening. Board member Grant Zerbe was absent, being a pilot then.

It was Abraham Lincoln who signed a proclamation on Oct 3, 1863, to establish a Thanksgiving Day in the USA. We wish you and your families a Happy Thanksgiving and pray for safe travel.
