Community Comes Together To Keep Others Warm

The St. Raphael’s Christian Service put on their annual free winter wear give away at the St. Raphael’s gymnasium on Nov. 16. This event allowed community residents to stock up on necessary winter wear before the change in seasons.

By the end of the all-day event, over 200 coats and several hundred other winter gear was distributed.

In order to make this event successful, organizers rely on donations of new or gently used items, which are then handed out to those who attend the giveaway.

This year’s event saw many monetary donations provided prior to the event, which allowed the purchase of children’s coats, snow pants and snow boots to be added to the give away. There were also many community donations of brand new coats, snow pants, boots, hats and gloves for children. In total there were over 20 pairs of new children’s snow pants and 70 new children’s coats available.

In addition to the brand new items, there were also a lot of donations received of gently used coats, boots, snow pants, gloves, hats, blankets and warm shirts for all ages.

There was truly something for everyone to stay warm this winter season.
