Scottie Volleyball Season Ends At Northern B Divisional

The 2024 Glasgow Scottie volleyball season ended at the Northern B Divisional Tournament in Shelby as the Scotties went 1-2 in the second postseason event. Glasgow fell to Shelby in the opening round Thursday but defeated Choteau in loser-out action to keep the season alive. The Scotties season was ended by Chinook Nov. 8.

Glasgow opened the tournament with a match against Shelby, losing in three sets, 9-25, 16-25, 22-25. The Scotties had four aces, 26 kills, 23 assists, 15 blocks and 92 digs to three aces, 27 kills, 27 assists, four blocks and 98 digs by their opponents.

Joelly Chappell led Glasgow in three stats. She had two aces, 11 kills and 25 digs. Macy Martin led in assists with 18 while Hayden Green knocked down eight shots by Shelby.

Glasgow moved into loser-out play against Choteau, who had lost their opening match against Fairview in five sets. The Scotties dropped the first two games but battled back to win, 17-25, 10-25, 25-23, 25-17, 15-13.

In the match, Glasgow put five aces, 40 kills, 34 assists, 19 blocks and 102 digs on the stats sheet while Choteau notched nine aces, 35 kills, 33 assists, 22 blocks and 105 digs.

Ella Eggebrecht put three of Glasgow's five aces in the books. Chappell had 14 kills and Green again led the team in blocks, stopping 14 shots. Martin had 31 of the Scotties' 34 assists and 22 of the team's digs.

The win kept the Scotties postseason alive and pitted them against Chinook Friday afternoon. The Sugarbeeters had defeated Malta in the opening round but fell to Fairfield in the next.

Glasgow dropped the first two games, won the third and took the fourth to extra points but saw the season end with a 14-25, 14-25, 25-18, 25-27 loss.

Glasgow had no aces, 30 kills, 23 assists, 17 blocks and 87 digs to Chinook's nine aces, 52 kills, 49 assists, five blocks and 100 digs.

Chappell racked up nine kills and 30 digs to lead Glasgow. Martin continued her leadership in assists, with 21 helpers. Green led in defense at the net with nine blocks.

Glasgow ended the season with a 7-1, 12-8 overall record. Chappell led the Scotties in three stats over the season. She had 30 aces, 173 kills and 330 digs this year. Martin was the team's undisputed assists leader, putting up 397 over the season. Green led the team with 78 blocks.

Eggebrecht and Martin led the Scotties in the postseason with 12 and 10 aces, respectively. Martin put up 167 assists and Green had 49 blocks in the two tournaments. Chappell had 73 kills and 151 digs in the last two weeks of play.

Chappell and Martin were named to the 1st Team All-Conference. Green earned 2nd Team District 2B All-Conference honors. Martin was named to the All-State team.

Glasgow loses seniors Macy Martin, Hayden Green and Amber Pearson.
