Katherine 'Dolly' Lawrence

Katherine "Dolly" (Capdeville) Lawrence of Glasgow, Mont., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024, at Aspen Meadows Assisted Living in Billings, Mont.

Katherine was born Jan. 25, 1934, in Opheim, Mont., to Martin and Anna Capdeville. She attended school in Opheim and graduated in 1953 as an Opheim Viking. Katherine was well known as being called Dolly. After graduation she married the love of her life William "Bill" Lawrence on Nov. 14, 1953, in Opheim, and they made their home one mile south of Glentana, Mont., on the farm.

While making their home on the farm in Glentana they started their family, welcoming a baby boy, Steven Lynn, in June of 1954. She loved being a farm wife, helping in the field with lunches and raising her little boy. Soon they would welcome another little boy, William Duane, in July of 1961. Being blessed with two little boys to the family, she was very busy raising the boys on the farm. It wasn't too long later and they were blessed with a third little boy, Douglas Lee, in April of 1965. While raising her boys on the farm she enjoyed her flower garden and gardening. Dolly loved to follow the Opheim basketball teams all over the state. She enjoyed cheering for all the kids.

After her boys left home, she went to work for the Lefsa Shack in Opheim, which she enjoyed until the passing of her husband Bill in February of 2006. After Bill passed away Dolly moved to Glasgow to be closer to her family. She loved her new yard and could always be found out in her flower beds making sure they were always weed free. Dolly would later move to Nemont Manor for a few years and then after a full knee replacement moved into Prairie Ridge. She enjoyed doing puzzles and socializing at Prairie Ridge, especially loved listening and dancing to Dudley's music. She enjoyed doing needlework with her daughter-in-law, Janice, making heirlooms for family. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Opheim and Glasgow. She loved having cats around her house, Fred was the black farm cat and then Cally the calico town cat.

Dolly loved being a grandma and a great-grandma and would always be willing to support the kids in any activities they were in. She enjoyed traveling to games or music concerts.

She is preceded by her parents, Martin and Anna Capdeville; son Douglas Lawrence; husband Bill Lawrence; and brothers Glen, Paul, and Noel "Spud" Capdeville.

Dolly is survived by her loving sons, Steven (Janice) Lawrence and Duane (Carmen) Lawrence; grandkids Candy (Pete) Lagerquist, Bryce (LeeAnn) Lawrence, Chance Lawrence and Baylee Lawrence; brother Alex Capdeville; great-grandkids Amelia Hackleman, Shanice Lagerquist, Caleb Lawrence and Kylie Lagerquist; great-great-granddaughter Brooklyn Hackleman; sisters-in-law Trixie Floyd and Elsie Capdeville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held 11 a.m., Nov. 12, at the First Lutheran Church in Glasgow, followed by a reception and burial in Lawndale Cemetery in Opheim.
