Scottie XC Ends Regular Season in Harlem

Head to State Meet Saturday

"We wrapped up our regular season at the Harlem Invitational on Friday," Head Coach Tim Phillips said. "We held a few out of the race, and most who ran either ran personal bests or close to it."

Glasgow's girls team finished in third place with 72 points behind Poplar, 45, and Harlem, 58 points. Tanae Baker, Haleigh Huntsman and Kimber Dulaney did not compete.

The boys scored 89 points for fourth place, behind Harlem, 34; Hobson-Moore, 56, and Poplar, 65. Dodson put up 122 points for fifth followed by Wolf Point in sixth with 123 and Chinook in seventh with 162 points. Jack Milam did not run for the Scottie boys.

Kheyerah Bilger led the Scottie girls, dropping 26 seconds from her time in Harlem last season. She finished in 11th place out of 38 competitors at 22:09.8. Jensina Tweten finished directly behind her in 12th place with a time of 22:29.7, a 64-second improvement from 2023. Ryder Bilger ran her first and only varsity race this season as an eighth grader, taking 18th place with a 24:17.34 time.

Riley Evenson-Glasoe ran a 25:22.5 for 21st place. Josie Kemp dropped 3:10 from her time in Harlem last year to finish with a 25:54.2 time. She took 23rd place. Mary Dykema finished in 32nd with a 29:51.6 time.

Kyler Holinde led the Scottie boys with a 12th place showing out of 72 runners. He ran an 18:27.2. Ted See followed in 20th place with an 18:55.88 time. Kyler Whitman ran an 18:56.82 to finish directly behind See in 21st place. Adam Mickelson's personal record time 19:06.80 put him in 23rd place. His time was a 7-second season and personal best as well as 28 seconds faster than last year in Harlem. Garrett Thompson followed in 22nd place at 19:06.89. His time was also a 7-second season and personal best.

Timothy Pearson was the next Scottie boy to finish, running a 19:32.97, a 2:50 improvement from last year. His 5-second personal and season record put him in 30th place. Rowen Kloker took 31st with a 19:36.33, a 55-second improvement from his 2023 Harlem showing. Gage Larsen dropped 3:05 from last year's meet to run a 19:44.26 and take 33rd place. His time was a personal and season best by 47 seconds.

Owen Thompson ran a 20:30.75 for 42nd place, dropping 31 seconds from last year. Jack Miller placed 43rd with a 20:33.97 time and Aaron Mickelson ran a 24:26.84 for 68th place.

Coach Phillips highlighted his runners who will not be competing at the State meet this year.

"Ryder Bilger (eighth grade) - ran one meet for us at the high school level and lettered both in time (24:17.4) and in points (10)," he said. "Mary Dykema (Senior) started the season at 30:36.7, and her fastest time was 28:52.5. Her personal best is 25:39, set in 2023. She started her career at 32:42.6. That's a 7:30 career improvement."

On the boys side, he noted, "Gage Larsen (Sophomore) started the season at 23:03.2 and finished at 19:44.3, taking 3:18.5 off his season-starting time and 1:32 off his personal best. Aaron Mickelson (Freshman) started the season at 25:38.1, setting a personal best in Sidney at 24:17.3. 

"Jack Milam (Freshman) had a season-ending injury after Williston, running a 19:53.2. That was a 33 second improvement from the opener in Billings. Jack Miller (Freshman) started at 22:05.9 in Billings and set a personal best in Sidney at 20:32

"Owen Thompson (Senior) started the season at 23:29.5, improving by over 3 minutes to 20:19.5 in Sidney. Owen started his career at 26:42.30 in Billings as a freshman. That's a career improvement of 6:22.8."

Glasgow will leave Thursday, Oct. 24, for the MHSA All-Class State Cross Country Meet in Missoula Saturday, Oct. 26. The Class B girls will race at 11 a.m. on the University of Montana Golf Course. Tanae Baker, Haleigh Huntsman, Kimber Dulaney, Kheyerah Bilger, Jensina Tweten, Riley Evenson-Glasoe and Josie Kemp will be in attendance. Mary Dykema will serve as the girls alternate. The Class B boys race will begin at noon. Kyler Holinde, Ted See, Kyler Whitman, Adam Mickelson, Garrett Thompson, Timothy Pearson and Rowen Kloker will represent the Scottie boys. Owen Thompson will serve as the boys alternate.
