The Scottie volleyball team picked up two more wins last week with matches against Poplar and Glendive. Glasgow defeated Poplar in four sets and avenged an earlier season loss against Glendive in four games.
The Scotties picked up the road win against the Indians Oct. 18 after dropping the first set. Glasgow battled back in the next three games to win 23-25, 25-16, 25-18, 25-13.
The team had 16 aces, 56 attacks, 48 assists, eight blocks and 89 digs. Kolbi Ross led in aces with nine and Mayzie Yoakam led in attacks with 23. Macy Martin put up 46 of Glasgow’s assists. Halle Hunter blocked three of Poplar’s shots to lead in blocks while Joely Chappell notched 24 digs.
The JV team won in three games 25-12, 25-2, 15-9 while the C squad match went to four games with the Scotties winning 25-17, 25-12, 9-15, 15-4.
Glasgow traveled to Glendive the following night to take on the Class A Red Devils. The Scotties again dropped the first game followed by three straight wins for the match victory 21-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-18.
Glasgow put up nine aces, 32 kills, 26 assists, 12 blocks and 102 digs. Yoakam had three aces to lead the Scotties while Chappell recorded 13 kills. Martin again led in assists, putting 21 on the stats sheet. Hayden Green and Hunter both stopped four Glendive shots as Chappell notched 30 digs for the Scotties.
The JV team dropped their first two games but fought back, taking the match to five sets and a win: 20-25, 22-25, 15-9, 15-11, 15-9. The Scottie C team lost their match in three sets 16-25, 15-25, 10-15.
Glasgow hosts the Fairview Warriors for JV and varsity play Thursday, Oct. 24, at 4:30 p.m. with the Scottie seniors being recognized in their final home game. Saturday, Oct. 26, the Scotties travel to Wolf Point to play the Wolves’ C, JV and varsity teams beginning at 1 p.m.
