For the week of Oct. 14 through 19, there were nine motor vehicle stops, three reports of a deer being hit by a vehicle, two reports of loose dogs and one report of loose livestock.
Monday, Oct. 14
1432 – A female came to the dispatch window to request an officer to talk to about someone not giving back her belongings.
Tuesday, Oct. 15
0700 – Received a 911 call from a male who advised he has a gas leak. It is by his garage and it is blowing an odor. MDU was notified and while on the phone with MDU, the caller stated he has stopped the leak.
1258 – Caller stated that back in August they had a trailer stolen. The trailer belongs to the BIA and the location it was stolen from was provided. He now believes he has found the trailer in a pasture approximately 4 miles north of Oswego. He would like a deputy to go with him to get the trailer. The caller was patched through with a deputy.
Wednesday, Oct. 16
1044 – Reporting party called to report a theft. The theft occurred between 2021 and Feb. 2024 in the amount of $26,000. The suspect was the front end manager and she left her employment in Feb. 2024. The theft was discovered after she had left.
1239 – Reporting party came into the dispatch lobby to file a report on a scam. She believes someone may have gotten her SSN and used it to try and get unemployment benefits. She had received a letter from the Montana Department of Labor and Industry about a claim that had been filed in her name. When she received the notice, she called their fraud department. They are afraid someone has her SSN so advised her to file a police report. She has already notified her bank, and she is going to the SSA office when she leaves the dispatch lobby to let them know also. She did not want to speak to an officer at this time however an officer was notified of the situation.
1324 – Reporting party called stating he had a scam call. They said his grandson was involved in an accident and a seven-month pregnant female was injured. He talked to someone who sounded kind of like his grandson but didn’t know any of the particulars when the reporting party asked him questions. They said the accident was in Scobey so he called Daniels County and they had no motor vehicle accidents and recommended the reporting party called Valley County dispatch to make a report.
2122 – Reporting party called and said he missed the detour on the bridge construction and is high-centered. MHP and Deputy arrived on scene.
2200 – A public assist call was recorded. Deputy advised the driver just pulled over to make a phone call.
Thursday, Oct. 17
0754 – Reporting party called to report a “big pile of yuk” in the eastbound driving lane. When asked what Yuk was, she stated guts but no head or anything. MT DOT was provided the information.
0959 – Reporting party called in wanting to speak to a deputy about sexual harassment in the workplace. He states a female who he works with had sent him pictures of herself. He would not say where he works until after he speak to an officer. The caller was conferenced up with a deputy.
1525 – Caller stated a bale caught on fire in the baler. They ejected the bale and that is what caught the field on fire. She didn’t know the MM or a road nearby. Later it was advised the fire was knocked down. There is a lot of smoke but no flames at this time.
Friday, Oct. 18
0020 – Caller reported cars drag racing on Highway 2. They come around two businesses. An officer checked and was not able to locate the vehicles.
0943 – Reporting party called stating she smelled a gas odor on her back porch area. She also could hear and smell a gas odor at the meter in the front of the house. She has a gas grill on the back porch. She did call MDU and they told her to notify dispatch as well. She has evacuated the residence with all her pets and a neighbor’s child.
1223 – A female, who wished to remain anonymous, called stating people are speeding everyday by the provided location. When asked what kind of vehicles, it was stated there are all kinds. There are a lot of kids around the police never patrol around the area. She wanted dispatch to tell the officers to start patrolling the area.
1902 – Caller reported there’s a four-door vehicle parked behind the abandoned buildings that face Highway 24 North. She said when they saw her, they shut their light off. She said nobody is supposed to be back there. It was determined the person was just observing the comet going by.
2352 – Reporting party stated he has a woman that won’t get out of his car. He kept telling her to get out of the car and she was saying that she wants her phone back and he stated it is not her phone. He had given her a ride home and she refused to get out of the vehicle. Upon the officer’s arrival, the female exited the vehicle. She stated she just wanted to talk to the reporting party about their relationship issues.
Saturday, Oct. 19
1715 – Caller requested an officer. She states a guy threw a drink in her face. A description of the guy was provided. Dispatch queried the individual for wants and received a hit from MHP Great Falls. Deputies were notified.
1942 – Caller reported the door to the cemetery shop has been open all day. He states there are at least two kids now walking around the area with a flashlight scoping it out. A few minutes later, an officer advised no one is around and there are no signs of forced entry.
