Scottie Volleyball Splits Conference Matches: Defeats Harlem, Falls In Malta

The Scottie volleyball team split their matches last week with a win over Harlem and a loss to Malta.

Glasgow hosted the Harlem Wildcats Oct. 10 for the annual Pink Night for breast cancer awareness. The Scotties swept the visiting Wildcats, 25-17, 25-10, 25-16.

The Scotties had eight aces, led by Joely Chappell with four. Glasgow notched 32 team kills with Chappell and Mayzie Yoakam leading the way with 11 each. Macy Martin lodged 29 of the team's 31 assists while Hayden Green led in blocks with four of Glasgow's six. The Scotties had 62 digs with Chappell out in front with 17 of those.

The JV squad won their match in four sets, 25-17, 25-13, 9-15, 15-10, and the C team also turned in a sweep, 25-15, 25-21, 15-7.

Glasgow traveled to Malta Oct. 13, to take on their conference rivals, the M-ettes. The Scotties found themselves on the other end of a sweep, losing 8-25, 16-25, 10-25, for their first conference loss this season.

Glasgow had one ace, 21 kills, 16 assists, four blocks and 77 digs against Malta.

Ella Eggebrecht had the Scottie' lone ace while Martin put up 14 of team's assists. Green led in blocks again with three. Chappell led Glasgow in both kills and digs with 10 and 26, respectively.

The Scottie JV team lost their match in four, 20-25, 22-25, 15-9, 9-15. The C squad took their match to five sets but also lost to the M-ettes, 26-24, 25-21, 7-15, 4-15, 14-16.

Glasgow travels to Poplar Friday, Oct. 18, for C, JV and varsity matches beginning at 3 p.m. against the Indians.

The Scotties take on the Red Devils in Glendive Saturday, Oct. 19. All three teams will play beginning at 1 p.m. at DCC.

The JV team will play the Porcupines in Nashua Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 6 p.m.
