David Renner

David James Renner, 78, passed away peacefully on Monday evening Sept. 30, 2024, at home with his loving wife by his side.

He worked for Phil Tadij for one summer and then numerous ranches before attending Montana State University for a year. David enlisted in the Navy on July 25, 1966. While serving in the Navy in Vietnam he worked on patrol boats as a diesel engine mechanic, where he earned four commendations: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Navy Unit Commendation medal with Combat "V." He was discharged from the Navy on July 24, 1970.

After returning to the states, he worked in Great Falls, Mont., for Hallperry. Good friend Mick Ridenour and he moved to Malta, Mont., where they opened R & R Machine Shop. David met the love of his life at a bar in Malta where he asked her to dance, and the rest became history. On January 20, 1973, David married Susan Wiederrick Lamson. David acquired a stepson and over the next few years added four more children to the family. They lived in Malta for a couple of years before moving to the farm north of Nashua in 1975.

He worked at the Glasgow Airbase in St. Marie, Mont., at the fire hall and continued helping his stepdad at the farm. After his stepdad's sudden passing in January of 1976 David left the airbase that spring and took over the farm. He farmed and ranched till selling the cows in 2009 but continued farming until retiring in 2018 due to health issues. Upon retiring they both loved to bowl, travel, dance, play cards, visit family and friends they had acquired through the years. They both still lived on the farm until David's passing.
