Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
The 2024 Middle of Nowhere Pony Club Fall Round-Up Fundraiser, held on Sept. 28, at the Ridge Runner Saddle Club, has been our most successful effort to date! It was filled with lots of fun, laughter, entertainment, good food and many wonderful generous people!
It takes a lot of collaboration and planning, down to the last detail, to put this event together each year. We are blessed to have hard working and dedicated board members, parents, clubbers and sponsors who are willing to jump right in to help make it a success.
The doors opened at 5 p.m. with a delicious taco bar prepared by Geraldine Furhmann. We kicked off the event by opening the silent auction, which spanned the entire length of the south wall of the venue. Auction items from coffee gift baskets, to horse feed, to pottery, there was something there for everyone. After everyone had a chance to browse and jot down their starting bids, we headed outside with full bellies, to enjoy the real entertainment.
This year's Pony Club Olympics included four teams, the Pony Club kids, FMDH, Border Plains and the Audience member's team. Everyone cheered loudly as the teams competed in the Egg Race, Pig Race, Late to Work and The blind leading the blind. When the final contestant crossed the finish line, team FMDH proved victorious and took home all of the bragging rights.
While the participants caught their breath, everyone filed back into the Saddle Club to check out the various and plentiful live auction items donated by many local talented supporters. Justin Fuhrmann did a great job auctioning for us and we want to thank him sincerely for his time and talent.
Because of last year's generous donations, we were able to send seven members to our Region's Quiz Rally in Great Falls, and 3 members to our Regional Summer camp in Helena! Two of our adult members certified into the D-3 level in Horse Management and Western Riding. five of our youth members certified into the D-2 level of western riding, and 2 youth members certified into the D-2 level of horse management! We also were able to assist seven youth members and several adult members with the cost to attend a clinic taught by Stacey and Tiffany Ogren. This year we asked four different people from our community to teach lessons and do a demonstration about different western disciplines and events. Donna Leibrand came and taught barrel racing, Royce Strobbe and Blake Ozark demonstrated trick riding, Caitlyn Kelly taught Jumping, and Lorie Koessl taught Western Dressage.
We also want to make sure to acknowledge the generosity of the Ridge Runners Saddle Club! We are so happy to partner with them to keep the memories and activities alive within their arena and clubhouse.
We had a great turn out this year and we want to thank all of those who came out or made donations to support The Middle of Nowhere Pony Club.
If you missed the fun, we want to extend an invitation and we look forward to another great event next year!
