12-Week Fall Prevention Fitness Program Hosted By FMDH EMS
The Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital EMS Community Integrated Program will be hosting a SAIL (Stay Active & Independent for Life) 12-week falls prevention fitness program starting with registration on Wednesday, Oct. 9, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the Glasgow Senior Citizen Center, 328 4th Ave. S., Glasgow. If you can’t make the in-person registration, please call FMDH EMS at 406-228-3468 to register.
This 12-week class is free and will be held at the Glasgow Senior Citizen Center, Monday from 2 to 3 p.m .; and Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. beginning Monday, Oct. 14, and ending Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025. The weeks of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years will all be skipped.
Any older adult, anyone who has fallen in the past year and/or is fearful of falling and anyone looking to add exercise to their routine can attend SAIL fitness classes.
The program is designed for older adults that focuses on strength, balance and mobility – which reduces the risk of falls and improves the overall quality of life.
SAIL Fitness class benefits include:
• Reduce risks of falling
• Improve balance, mobility and leg strength - all known risk factors for falls
• Maintain independence by building strength, improving balance and agility
SAIL Fitness classes include:
• Exercises that can be done sitting or standing
• Suited for all fitness levels
Fitness checks are done in the first class and at 12 weeks to track your progress.

• 8-Foot Timed Up and Go
• Bicep Curls
• Chair Sit-to-Stand
