Hunter Education Online Field Days Offered In Havre, Poplar, and Glasgow

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Hunter Education online field days have been set for northeast Montana. These will likely be the last online field days, and possibly courses, offered for hunter education this season in northeast Montana. Eligible students that were not able to get into a classroom course this year may want to choose this option.

Reminder: A hunter can hunt for two years as a hunter apprentice before needing a hunter education course. Go here to learn more about being a hunter apprentice.

Field days for students ages 12-17 who have completed an online course are offered on the following dates:

Havre: Saturday, Oct. 5

Poplar: Saturday, Oct. 5

Glasgow: Sunday, Oct. 6

The online course (course fees apply) needs to be completed before signing up for a field day. Students aged 18 and over are not required to attend a field day but are welcome to if space allows.

During the field day for online students, participants receive instruction, practice, and then demonstrate their skills and knowledge in two key areas: firearm safety and hunting ethics. Instructors provide hands-on instruction and present realistic scenarios, then evaluate students on their understanding and competency. All hands-on firearms training is done with a variety of inert firearms. Instructors will pass or fail students based on their overall performance. Students who fail the field day must pass a future field day to receive certification.
