Alive At Five Wraps Up Another Season

The last Alive at Five was scheduled for Sept. 18, with host The Rundle Suites and food provided by A.E. Catering, out of Malta. However once again the weather did not cooperate for an outdoor event as thunderstorms were expected to move into the area during the time Alive at Five was scheduled. Organizers decided to pivot the day before and instead hold the event inside the Montana Bar with Arizona Peaches, comprised of Ashley Westcott and Lindsey Merrill, entertaining those who ventured out.

Throughout the summer season, the Glasgow Downtown Association (GDA) held a reverse raffle. A total of 100 tickets were sold, for $100 each. Throughout the summer, "losers" were picked out of the raffle, and the final five standing had the option to split the grand prize of $5,000 or continue the drawing until a final ticket is left. The final drawing took place Sept. 13, with the last five being Audree Garsjo, Gina Reyling, Kevin Taylor, Dale Borgen and Mary Fahlgren. Via a secret ballot, the five voted with the majority voting to split the cash winnings, so each person came home with $1,000 at the end of the Sept. 18 event.

"We sell 100 tickets for $100 each and it supports our downtown association. And each year we will do a big downtown project," stated chair of the GDA, Madelyn House. "This year we purchased garbage cans with the portion that we took. We earned $10,000 and we split that with the winners."

Raffle tickets for next year are already available for purchase at KLTZ/Mix-93, the Montana Bar or any Glasgow Downtown Association member.

It was Kevin Taylor's lucky night, as in addition to being one of the Reverse Raffle winners, he also won the 50/50 of the evening brining home an additional $185.

As a result of the weather, the final Fire Truck pull event of the summer, which was going to see Glasgow Chamber members, Valley County High School students and the Valley County Fire Department battle it out to see who could pull the Fire Truck 75-feet the fastest, was postponed. The Glasgow Downtown Association will keep the public informed when information is available on the finale of this event.

Up next for the GDA is the Polar Putt Putt, which is scheduled to take place at the beginning of 2025 and plans will start to be made for the 2025 season of Alive at Five.
