The EMB Harvest Festival is next Sunday, Sept. 29. The special guest speakers are Pablo and Judy (Wiens) Perez. The MB Harvest Festival is Oct. 6.

Awana began Sept 11 in Lustre and has a good attendance. Dawson Olfert is the commander.

I apologize that the spelling was incorrect last week for Kash, Gavin and Hannah Pankratz in their class school pictures.

The LCHS Varsity girls played Glasgow JV on Sept. 7, winning in five games. They played Wolf Point JV Saturday, Sept. 7, at home, winning the first two games, 25-21 and 27-25. The third game was won by Wolf Point 25-23 and the fourth by Lustre, 25-20. The Jamboree played three games, with scores 13/8, 25/12 and 15/6. It was great watching the younger kids make their first points!

Lustre played MonDak at home on Tuesday, Sept 10. The teams were quite matched and each had a win with see sawing scores. Lustre travelled to Culbertson Tuesday where they lost all their games. Even so, it was good to see grandparents in the stands, in spite of the stormy weather. Thursday the 19th, Lustre Varsity beat Frazer in four. Frazer won the first set 18-25; Lustre won the next 3 sets 25-5, 25-16, and 25-14. The Jr High played Frontier on Saturday, Sept. 21.

There is a deep washout on Wallstreet near the Bob Brown farm, so if you are traveling at night, be watchful for the cones. One of the neat features of rural life is an occasional cattle drive which we saw this week. The fall rains have begun, and we are thankful for any balmy weather that arrives.

The LCHS chaplain Pastor Frank Lenihan led a prayer walk Sunday evening, Sept 15. We were reminded to pray for Israel and its people alongside the prayer requests given by the teachers, board members and secretary, the dorm parents and coaches. Everyone began together, but split into the classrooms to pray silently at the desks where the sheets of specific requests were ready. At a set time, all gathered to hear remarks from Principal Burkhard. He announced a new program begun called "The Lions' Pride," where the students were divided into small groups to be discipled by the teachers in a short time segment. Pastor Lenihan challenged the 28-30 prayer warriors "to enlarge our tents and our light, making most of every opportunity." "Be prayerful when coming through these doors, praying for the opposing teams as well as our students to be spiritually vibrant and healthy." "Pray for resources to come (to run the school), and make an investment of an eternal nature." "Remember words are powerful, and you can encourage the staff in their work."

He introduced the dorm parents, Mr. Jones and Melissa Cumpio, who had just arrived two days before.
