Law Enforcement Report

For the week of Aug. 26 through 31, there were 22 motor vehicle stops, five reports of loose livestock, one report of a missing dog, one report of a barking dog, one report of a lost dog, one VIN inspection request, two reports of a dead deer in the road and one report for a building check.

Monday, Aug. 26

1751 – Local gas station reported a drive off of $59.40. A description of the vehicle was provided as well as direction of travel.

2123 – Caller reported that in the common area there was a man who appears to be tweaking. A description of the male was provided. The male was informed he is no longer welcome and will be arrested if he shows up to the premises again.

Tuesday, Aug. 27

0448 – Reporting party called and said she has been scammed. She said a man stated there was urgent business and a package would be arriving for a safety inspection that the fire department would be conducting. The caller claimed to be the owner of a local hotel and gave her some numbers and the name of another male. The caller stated to the reporting party that her boss was going to phone conference in. The reporting party tried contacting her boss, with no luck. He then said something about a payment and there was someone else on a different phone. At this point, the scammer’s accomplice called and affirmed there was a past due balance and to be completed within the next 60 minutes or the hotel would be shut down.

0731 – Reporting party called and stated there was a two vehicle accident. There are no injuries but the accident is blocking traffic. About 10 minutes later, officer advised there will be a report for record and the parties will handle the exchange of information.

0829 – A traffic control call was recorded. It is hugging the fog line and the deputy will follow it. The deputy ended up initiating a stop and it was determined there was no signs of impairment.

1036 – A female called in to report that a male on the property and he is not to be there. About 10 minutes later, officer advised he was visiting someone outside and he has left on his own.

1358 – A male called in a small brush fire on the side of the highway. At 1419, the fire is in mop up.

1631 – Caller requested an officer. She said they believe an employee broke into the locker room and broke off the locks. There’s most likely stuff that was taken. At 1840, officer advised the owner of the hotel wants the employee charged with criminal mischief. She is also trespassed from the property.

1806 – Caller reported a young man came up to his residence looking for someone. The young man told him the person he was looking for did something to his sister. The reporting party does not know who the man is who came.

2319 – Tribal Security called and reported someone was pointing a very bright green laser at drivers as they drive past the residence. He would like a deputy to make them stop. At 2351, deputy advised the two individuals were warned to stop pointing the laser at drivers or they would be charged with disorderly conduct.

Wednesday, Aug. 28

0403 – Reporting party stated he is broken down. He has called his boss, who tried to reach a tow company but no one answered. A description of the vehicle was provided and the caller did put out triangles. Reporting party also stated when the tow truck is able to respond, the driver will need to back up to him and will probably need to block the intersection for about 20 to 30 minutes to tow the semi.

0723 – A male stated they have had signs up at the Depot for three weeks now about not parking there as they are going to start a construction job. He states there are about three to four vehicles parked that need to be moved so they can put up a fence for the job. Officer advised he spoke to the job site foreman and where the vehicles are parked is on private property so the company will need to get them towed.

1456 – Dispatch received an automated call from a phone that advised the owner of the phone has been in a serious crash and is not responding. Dispatch tried calling the phone number and there was no answer. At 1505, dispatch tried again. A male answered, yelled he has not been in a crash and then hung up. Deputy was notified as he was jut getting to the scene. He then stated a male just yelled at him about not being in an accident and then took off. Deputy also advised the male made concerning statement. At 1514, deputy advised the male has been released to his father and no crime has been committed.

1505 – Caller reported a trash can on fire in the alley. Fire Command later advised the flames got into the grass near a house but the flames are knocked down.

1909 – Caller reported a vehicle that’s all over the road. A description of travel was provided.

Thursday, Aug. 29

0918 – Reporting party called to report his pick up truck has been stolen. A description of the vehicle was provided. He says he found it stolen on Saturday and he had been out of town. When asked why he waited until now to report this, he stated he thought maybe someone was just pranking him but he has not heard from anyone about his truck.

1042 – Caller reported her neighbor has rewired her home phone. She says that now all her calls go to him first before she gets them. It has made it where she cannot call to order things. She also stated that the other day, when she got home, she hard what sounded like footsteps in her attic but she believes he was on her roof and did something up there with a piece of metal. Dispatch advised an officer would be notified and come out to talk to her.

1318 – Caller stated he needs help. He is stuck in the shower. He is not hurt just stuck. Deputy arrived who advised he got the male up. The male did not fall and is not injured.

2035 – Caller reported two vehicles just raced down his alley and now they’re back in the intersection. A description of the vehicles were provided as well as direction of travel.

2042 – Caller reported there’s a snake, possibly a rattlesnake, in the middle of the street, near her residence. It was confirmed to be a rattlesnake and the officer was going to try to dispatch it.

Friday, Aug. 30

1014 – Reporting party called to report a vehicle that has been parked in front of his residence for three weeks to a month now. He has no idea whose it is. A description of the vehicle was provided. Officer advised he called the registered owner and left a voicemail to move the vehicle when she gets a chance.

1228 – Reporting party called in a woman driving erratically and yelling at people. A description and plate number of the vehicle was provided.

1236 – Reporting party called stating she was at his vehicle, opened his door and the other vehicle hit the door, pinning his leg. His leg is okay but the other driver just took off. A description of the other vehicle was provided. At 1245, officer advised he was unable to locate the vehicle.

2036 – Reporting party called and said he has been following a vehicle for quite a while. He watched the car go over the center line several times as well as going over the fog line several times. He will sign a complaint.

2159 – A public assist call was recorded. The subject is having engine problems.

2249 – Caller reported there are about four kids yelling obscenities to the east of her residence. The kids then got into a truck and took off. At 2308, it was reported an officer patrolled and was unable to locate.

Saturday, Aug. 31

0136 – Reporting party stated she was assaulted by her sister when she went over there to tell her to turn the music down. Deputy notified RCSO, who will let Tribal know. At 0209, per deputy, tribal is giving the victim a ride to Wolf Point as her mother doesn’t want her staying at the house.

0814 – Reporting party stated that a railroad tie at the Nashua crossing is smoldering. They walked up to it and stated they can see orange where the RR tie is burning. There are no active flames. Nashua Fire Chief headed to the location and was not able to find a smoldering RR tie.

0932 – Caller stated they can see smoke at the crossing area at MM 559. CMR was on scene, who happened to be driving by. At 1001, the scene was cleared.

0946 – Off duty deputy received an anonymous call that states a couple are actively fighting. The male is known to carry knives. Dispatch called and updated deputy on duty, and right after a call was received that stated the female of concern went to a nearby house, and broke the windows out. At 1035, deputy spoke tot eh resident who verified the female broke the windows and the two individuals were fighting.

1043 – Employee called in a gas drive off for $72. A description of the vehicle and direction of travel was provided.

1409 – Hospital called stating they have a dog bite victim in the ER. The boy was riding his bike in the area. Officer spoke to the dog owner and completed the dog bite form.

1707 – Reporting party stated he can hear a female screaming “Let Go Of Me!” An officer was contacted. While dispatching officer, another call was received stating she was at an address and had a confrontation with her family. She said the sister was supposed to take the caller’s kids for a bit and go camping.

1803 – Reporting party called stating his wife had a restraining order against him. He stated she told him that she was taking his stuff out of storage and putting in the yard. He wanted help with the situation.
