Finish With 14-23 Record
The Reds attended the MT Legion East A District Tournament in Glendive last week where their season came to an end with losses to Miles City and the Billings Blue Jays. Glasgow fell 11-5 to the Miles City Mavericks July 25 in the opening round of the tourney. The Reds lost 6-1 to the Blue Jays the following day. Glasgow completed the season with a 14-23 record.
Miles City jumped out to a 6-0 lead over Glasgow in the first inning to start the tournament. Neither team scored again until the Mavericks sent three runners home in the bottom of the fourth. The Reds got on the scoreboard in the top of the fifth when Brody Hansen singled on a fly ball and sent Cody Kuka home.
Glasgow added three runs in the top of the sixth. John Grimes hit a double fly ball to drive Connor Hudyma and Wyatt Sugg across the plate. Grimes scored on a Kuka bunt. Miles City added two runs to the board in the bottom of the sixth. The Reds answered with a single run in the top of the seventh, falling short of extending the game. Hudyma scored again on a wild pitch with Grimes at bat.
The Reds were outhit 8-3 and committed two errors while the Mavericks had one error. Grimes had a hit and two RBIs while Hansen and Kuka each added a hit and an RBI to the books. Hudyma and Sugg led in stolen bases with two each followed by Khye Gamas, Jack Kolstad and Kuka with one a piece.
Cade Hudyma took the loss on the mound for Glasgow. He allowed two hits and six earned runs. Riley Smith pitched two and a third innings, giving up one hit while throwing two strikeouts. Connor Hudyma gave up three hits and three earned runs over two and two-thirds innings while pitching two strikeouts. Sugg allowed two earned runs and two hits over one inning.
The loss sent the Reds to the back side of the bracket where they faced the Billings Blue Jays Friday. Glasgow connected at the plate three times but could not convert the hits into runs. The Blue Jays scored once in the first, twice in the third, once in the fourth and twice again in the fifth while holding the Reds to a single run in the fourth. Smith hit a line drive to send Hansen home for Glasgow.
Smith started the game on the mound for Glasgow, allowing two hits and six runs, two earned, while throwing four strikeouts over four and two-thirds innings. Cade Hudyma pitched an inning and a third in relief.
Smith led at bat with a hit and an RBI. He also stole two bases. Gamas and Hansen had one hit each with Gamas adding a stolen base to the stats sheet. Glasgow committed four errors while Billings had three in the game.
Glasgow looks to return a majority of the team for the 2025 season with seasoned players.
