GSKT Have Prime Showing At Divisional

The Thunder had a prime showing at their Divisional Meet in Glendive July 20 and 21 with three first places, seven second place showings and 11 third place finishes.

Head Coach Ethan Shrader talked up his team following the meet, saying, "We had some truly great swims. Haleigh Huntsman swam her best 100-meter backstroke and fly, dropping time in both and placing second in both. Jack Miller placed second in the 50 freestyle and third in the 50 fly. Abby Kulczyk swam the 50 fly and 100 fly with a third place and a second place finish. Holt Huntsman swam an amazing 200 freestyle, cutting two seconds and placing third. Finley Tatafu swam a great 200 freestyle as well, placing sixth. Brynlie Harris swam the 200 free and cut eight seconds. Molly Miller swam to a first place finish in the 50 breaststroke. Snow Saiz swam the 50 free, cutting four seconds and placing seventh. All the swimmers swam great this weekend, most everyone swam a best time."

M. Miller won the girls 9-10 breast in 52.08. She also swam a leg on the winning Mixed 100 Medley 9-10 team with Knoxen Harris, Snow Saiz and Will Furhman. Fuhrman, Harris and Saiz with Kila Tatafu won the Mixed 100 Free Relay 9-10.

J. Miller took second in the boys 50 free 13-14 with a 30.48 time. Haleigh Huntsman swam a 1:29.80 in the girls 100 back 13-14 and a 1:35.02 in the girls 100 fly 13-14 in her second place showings. Kimber Dulaney swam a 5:47.21 in the girls 400 free 15-19 for second place. A. Kulczyk finished the girls 100 fly 15-19 in 1:23.98 for her second place showing.

In the relays, Holt Huntsman, Haleigh Huntsman, Finley Tatafu and Jack Miller combined for a 1:20.71 in the Mixed 200 free relay 13-14 to take second place. Haleigh Huntsman, Paxton Wesen, Holt Huntsman and Finley Tatafu took second in the mixed 200 Medley Relay 13-14 with a 2:48.98 time.

M. Miller took third in the girls 100 IM 9-10 at 1:53.45 while Haligh Huntsman earned third in the girls 200 IM 13-14 at 3:19.74. Wade Fuhrman swam a 35.55 in the boys 50 free 11-12 and a 48.48 in the boys 50 breast 11-12 for third place in both events. He also took third in the boys 50 back 11-121 at 43.14. Nikolas Kylczyk took third in the boys 100 back 13-14 at 1:34.31. Dulaney swam a 1:21.77 in the girls 100 back 15-19 for third while Dayton Markle earned third in the boys 25 fly 8 & under at 28.72. J. Miller swam a 36.64 to take third in the boys 50 fly 13-14 while Holt Huntsman swam a 2:42.95 in the boys 200 free 13-14 for third. A. Kulczyk took third in the girls 50 fly 15-19 at 33.47.

Aurora Markle, Hailey Vigil, Duncan Markle and Dayton Markle took third in the Mixed 100 free relay 8 & under at 2:21.11.

"I can't wait to see what they can do fully rested for state this weekend," concluded Coach Shrader.

The GKST Thunder were in Sidney July 27 and 28 for the State Swim Meet where they earned the Class B State Champion title. The story and results will appear in next week's Courier.
