Thunder Rumble Through Scobey

The GKST swimmers put several competitors in the top three in their final regular meet of the season in Scobey, July 13 and 14.

"We swam great," Head Coach Ethan Shrader enthused. "Abigail Kulczyk swam her first time under 3:00 in the 200 meter IM and won, breaking the pool record with a time of 2:57. Nik Kulczyk swam the 200 IM as well and dropped 41 seconds in the event. Holt Huntsman swam a great 100-meter freestyle for a third place, and Haleigh Huntsman swam two great events with the 200 IM, which she was barely out touched and took second and a first place in the 100-meter backstroke. Overall, it was a great weekend and I am proud of how everyone swam."

A. Kulczyk broke the pool record by almost four seconds. The previous record was 3:01.68 and Kulczyk swam a 2:57.96. Haleigh Huntsman dropped 4.28 seconds off her her 100-meter back stroke.

Duncan Markle finished the boys eight & under 50-meter free without touching the lane ropes and dropped a stunning two minutes off his previous best time. Wade Fuhrman dropped 3.77 seconds off his 50 meter back stroke to win at 43.18.

The Thunder were in Glendive July 20 and 21 for the Divisional Tournament. Results were unavailable at press time. The State Swim Meet is this Saturday and Sunday, July 27-28, in Sidney.
