Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
Helping with one of the Blood Draws several weeks ago brought to mind Blood Draws in the past. I have a notion that several of you will remember drawings in the past when the Blood Mobile came to your community.
Living in the Opheim community I do remember seeing the Blood Mobile usually sitting on the main street of Opheim. I doubt that appointments were made at that time so there were many times a line of donors waiting their turn, Now I wish I had actually seen the inside of one of these blood mobiles.
I still have several of the pins donors received when they gave blood. The ones that come to my mind were tear shaped gold pins, maybe 3\4 of an inch long with a red circle in the center, a white circle and red cross in the middle. The amount of blood you had given was noted at the very top of the pin.
I can only assume that number recognized the number of gallons or times you had given. No, I was too young to give and my memory is not actually that good, but I do have several of those pins from a family donor.
