The Glasgow Reds baseball team beat the Richland County Patriots 4-1 and 6-5 at home June 21 before dropping a doubleheader in Laurel to the Dodgers by 11-1 and 14-2 margins. The Reds hold a 5-12 record on the season now.
In game one at home against Richland County, the visitors got on the scoreboard first with a run in the top of the third. Neither team scored again until the Reds went on a run in the bottom of the sixth with four runs.
Glasgow was outhit 9-1 in the game and both teams had a single error. Khye Gamas had the one hit for the Reds with two RBIs. Cade Hudyma and Jack Kolstad both added an RBI to the stat sheet. Connor Hudyma, Brody Hansen, Wyatt Sugg and Cade Hudyma scored for Glasgow. Gamas and Mason Hunter each had a stolen base.
Gamas went six and one-third innings on the mound, allowing one earned run on nine hits with two strikeouts. Hunter threw one strikeout in relief.
Glasgow came from behind in game two to win. The Patriots scored twice in the first while Glasgow answered with one in the second and took the lead with three runs in the third. Their lead was short-lived as the Patriots sent three runners home in the fourth. The Reds took the game with two runs in the bottom of the seventh.
The Reds pu tup seven hits in the game to Richland County's five and held their errors to one while the visitors had two.
Hansen went 2-for-2 at bad with an RBI while Kolstad went 2-for-3. Riley Smith, Connor Hudyma and John Grimes had the other hits for Glasgow with Grimes and Sugg notching an RBI each. Smith scored twice as Gamas, Hunter, Connor Hudyma and Hansen crossed the plate once each. Smith also had two stolen bases with Gamas, Griffin Azure and Hunter stealing one a piece.
Aiden Price stepped onto the mound first for Glasgow allowing two hits and two runs, one earned, in three innings. Cade Hudyma allowed three runs, two earned, and one hit with two strikeouts over two innings while Hansen threw one strikeout and gave up two hits over two innings.
Glasgow fell behind early in Laurel as the home team scored twice win the first and six times in the second under a blazing sun. The Dodgers added one run in the fourth before Glasgow got on the board in the fifth. Laurel closed out the game in the bottom of the inning with two more runs.
The Reds had four hits to the Dodgers 10 but held their errors to one while the home team had two. Hansen, Hunter, Smith and Kolstad each notched a hit for Glasgow with Hunter batting Kolstad home. Smith, Hunter and Kolstad each had a stolen base.
Cade Hudyma took the loss on the mound, allowing seven hits and eight runs, two earned, over one and two-thirds innings. Kolstad gave up three hits and three earned runs in relief.
Laurel took early control of game two with four runs in the first, one in the second, seven in the third and two in fourth. Glasgow scored twice in the fifth but the game ended early on the mercy rule.
The Dodgers outhit the Reds 14-5 in the game and held their errors to two while Glasgow had three. Hunter went 2-for-3 at the plate while Cade Hudyma had one hit and two RBIs. Sugg and Grimes had a hit each. Kolstad had a stolen base in the loss.
Aiden Price started the game on the mound, allowing four earned runs and four hits. Smith and Hansen each gave up four hits and four earned runs with Smith throwing three strikeouts in his time on the mound. Sugg allowed two hits and two runs.
Glasgow hosted the Billings Cardinals June 25 but scores and stats were unavailable at press time. The Billings Blue Jays will be in town Friday, June 28, for games at 1 and 3 p.m. against the Reds. The Reds will be in Glendive Tuesday, July 2, to play the Blue Devils at 4 and 6 p.m.
