The Glasgow Reds dropped two doubleheaders in Billings last week, but closed out the week by splitting their games with Miles City, ending on a win. Glasgow played the Cardinals June 11 losing 10-5 and 20-0. The following day they dropped both games to the Blue Jays by an 11-1 score. At home June 15, the Reds lost 6-4 to Miles City in the first game but recovered with an 8-7 victory in game two. Glasgow now holds a 3-11 record on the season.
The Cardinals lit up the scoreboard with three runs in the first and two in the second in their first game against the Reds, keeping Glasgow off the board until the fourth when the Reds scored once. Billings answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning.
Glasgow sent two more runners home in the fifth while the Cardinals scored once. The Cardinals extended their lead with three runs in the sixth. The Reds rallied with two more scores in the seventh but fell short of catching up with Billings.
Glasgow was outhit 10-8 in the game but committed no errors while Billings had one.
Riley Smith led the Reds at bat with a 3-for-3 showing. Connor Hudyma went 2-for-4 while Mason Hunter, Brody Hansen and John Grimes got a hit each. Hudyma had two RBIs with Hunter and Smith sending one runner home a piece. Khye Gamas led in stolen bases with three followed by Smith, Hunter and Wyatt Sugg, each with one.
Gamas took the loss on the mound, giving up five earned runs on five hits over two and a third innings. Hansen allowed four earned runs on four hits with two strikeouts while Braxton Potter gave up one earned run on one hit.
The Cardinals ran away with the second game, scoring twice in the first and five times in the second. They ended the game early with 13 runs in the third while shutting out the Reds in the top of the fourth.
Glasgow had one hit and two errors while Billings had 12 hits and no errors. Sugg was the only Red to connect at the plate.
Smith took the loss on the mound, allowing four hits and seven runs, one earned. He threw two strikeouts. Sugg threw one strikeout while giving up four hits and five runs, four earned. Griffin Azure allowed five earned runs on one hit while Grimes gave up three earned runs on three hits with one strikeout.
Glasgow hit the field June 11 to take on the Blue Jays and lit up the scoreboard in the first. However, the Blue Jays responded with four in the second, five in the third and two in the fifth, all while keeping the Reds from crossing home plate again. The Reds had three hits and three errors to 10 hits and one error for the Blue Jays.
Smith, Sugg and Cade Hudyma had the hits for Glasgow with Smith getting the team's lone RBI. Smith also had two stolen bases for Glasgow.
Aiden Price took the loss on the mound, with four strikeouts. He gave up seven hits and nine runs, six earned. Connor Hudyma allowed two earned runs on three hits in relief.
In game two, Billings lit up the scoreboard with a run in the first and three in the third before Glasgow scored once in the fourth. The Blue Jays answered with a run in the same inning and earned the win with six runs in the fifth.
The Reds had one hit and two errors while the Blue Jays racked up 14 hits with no errors. Sugg had the hit for Glasgow and Hansen had the team's RBI. Sugg, Smith and Hunter each had a stolen base in the loss.
Cade Hudyma went the distance on the mound and threw one strikeout for the Reds. He allowed 14 hits and 11 runs, nine earned.
Glasgow hosted Miles City June 15 and the visitors got on the board first with a run in the first and the second. Glasgow tied the game in the third and took the lead in the fourth before the Mavericks tied it in the fifth. Miles City added three runs in the seventh while holding Glasgow to one for the win.
The Reds were outhit 12 to 8, but played a clean game while the Mavericks had one error.
Gamas and Cade Hudyma both went 2-for-3 at bat with Gamas adding an RBI to the stats. Smith, Hunter, Hansen and Price added a hit each with Hunter and Price both notching an RBI. Gamas had four stolen bases followed by Smith with three, Hunter two and Cade Hudyma one.
Hunter took the loss in six innings on the mound. He allowed three earned runs on eight hits with five strikeouts. Hansen gave up three earned runs on four hits.
Glasgow took control early in game two with two runs in the first and three in the second. The Mavericks scored twice in the third before the Reds increased their lead with three runs in the fourth. Miles City rallied in the fifth with five runs to cut Glasgow's lead to one but did not have a chance to get any closer as weather forced an early end to the game.
Glasgow had five hits and no errors while Miles City had one error and eight hits.
Hansen and Jack Kolstad went 2-for-3 at bat to lead Glasgow while Gamas was 1-for-2. Hansen had three RBIs while Smith and Connor Hudyma added one each. Gamas and Hansen led in stolen bases with two a piece. Price, Connor Hudyma, Cade Hudyma, Smith and Hunter stole one a piece.
Connor Hudyma started the game on the mound, throwing one strikeout while allowing two earned runs on three hits. Gamas allowed four earned runs on two hits and Hansen gave up one earned run on three hits.
Glasgow hosts the Richland County Patriots Friday, June 21, for a doubleheader with games at 5 and 7 p.m. They travel to Laurel Sunday, June, 23, to play the Dodgers at 1 and 3 p.m. The Reds play the Billings Cardinals at home Tuesday, June 25, with games at 2 and 4 p.m.
