Glasgow Says 'See You Later' To Retirees At End Of Year Social

GEA Awards Silver Apple And Golden Apple Awards

The end of the school year typically brings joy to kids as they await summer break but for the teachers and staff of the school, it brings shared tears, memories and "see you laters" to staff who will begin another life chapter.

The Glasgow School District held their end-of-the-year social on May 22, at Sunnyside Golf Course. Staff of the School District and community members shared stories, reminisced and congratulated retirees Wade Nelson, Christine Johnson, Barb Etchart and Jan Dix, for their many years of service to the students, staff and the community.

In addition to recognizing these retirees' many years of service, the Glasgow Education Association (GEA) honored Irle School teacher Carla Swenson with the Golden Apple award. She was chosen as GEA's Teacher of the Year, for her well-rounded dedication to the school district, the students and the teachers, as well as members. She also represents as a leader in the different organizations she is a part of.

GEA also honored Irle School PTO president Kim Turner with the Silver Apple award. She was recognized for going above and beyond as a volunteer with all the work she does with the PTO.
