Scottie Softball Ends Season at State

The Scottie softball season came to an end at the State Tournament at the hands of Manhattan and Thompson Falls. Glasgow, in its first State appearance in seven years, fell 6-4 to Manhattan in the opening round of the tournament, moved to May 24 from the 23 due to rainfall in Billings. In loser-out action, Glasgow dropped an 8-5 contest to Thompson Falls that afternoon.

Glasgow took the lead over Manhattan in the third, sending two runners home but Manhattan shut the Scotties out in the top of third. Manhattan then scored six times to take the lead. The Scotties scored twice more in the top of the fifth but were unable to come any closer to Manhattan’s six runs in the remaining two innings.

The Scotties and Manhattan both had seven hits in the game and both committed two errors.

Brynn Donaldson took the loss in the pitcher’s circle, going the distance for the Scotties. She gave up six runs, three earned and had 10 strikeouts.

Halle Hunter led Glasgow at the plate with two hits including a home run, two runs and two RBIs. Macy Martin and Berkley Hillman both added one hit and one run. Tatum Nyquist notched a hit and an RBI. Donaldson and CharLee McColly both had one hit for the Scotties.

Bumped to the back side of the bracket, Glasgow took on Thompson Falls. The Scotties scored once in the bottom of the first. Thompson Falls tied it in the top of the third before Glasgow kept them off the scoreboard in the fourth. The Scotties then sent three runners home to take a 4-1 lead.

Thompson Falls sent four runners home in the top of the sixth but the Scotties added one run to the scoreboard in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at 5-5. Thompson Falls then scored three times in the seventh before shutting Glasgow out to end the Scotties’ season.

Glasgow notched 13 hits with two errors to Thompson Falls’ 11 hits and one error.

Donaldson took the loss after allowing eight runs, five earned, over six and one-third innings. She had four strikeouts in the game. Brynlie Boreson had one strikeout in her two-thirds of an inning in relief.

Tessa Miller put up two hits, one run, an RBI and a stolen base for Glasgow. Kelbi Wersal had two hits, a run and an RBI. Hunter notched two hits, on a double. Martin add a hit, a run, an RBI and one stolen base.

Hayden Green put up two hits while Hillman added a hit and an RBI. Nyquist and Donaldson both had one hit and one run. McColly added a hit and an RBI.
