Scottie Track Teams Sweep Northern B Divisional

Boys Score 134 Points, Girls 115

Both the Scottie boys and girls track teams secured the number one spot at the Northern B Divisional Track and Field Meet held in Glasgow May 17 and 18. The boys collectively put up 134 points while the girls scored 115 team points.

The boys set 13 personal records and one season best in Glasgow while the girls set four personal bests and five season records. Khye Gamas, Wyatt Babb and Nick Solorzano led the boys with individual wins and Mayzie Yoakam led the girls with three first place showings. The top six placers in each event advance to the MHSA Class A-B State Track & Field Meet.

The Glasgow boys beat out Fairfield, 82; Wolf Point, 56; Fairview, 42; Choteau, 41.5; Chinook, 38; Shelby, 36; Cut Bank, 26; Harlem, 24; Conrad, 23; Malta, 14.5, and Poplar, 10. The Scottie girls outscored Fairfield, 76; Conrad, 64; Fairview, 50.5; Shelby, 50; Chinook, 48.5; Malta, 44; Choteau, 42; Cut Bank, 23; Poplar, 8; Harlem, 5, and Wolf Point, 1.

Boys

Gamas won the boys 100 meters with a personal best time of 11.47. He also won the 200 meters at 23.62. Kyler Whitman came in fifth in the 200 at 24.15, a personal record. Gamas ran a 53.37 in the 400 meters to take second place.

Kyler Holinde placed second in the 800 meters at 2:02.57. He ran a season best 4:39.59 in the 1600 meters to take second place in that event as well. Timothy Pearson placed 11th in the 1600 with a personal record 5:24.86 time. Rowen Kloker set a personal record in the 3200 meters at 12:14.93 and finished in ninth place.

Gamas placed second in the 110m hurdles at 16.81. Adam Mickelson earned sixth place at 17.26, a personal best. Michael King ran a 19.09 for seventh place and Gage Larsen set a personal record at 20.41 for 11th place. Gamas won the 300m hurdles with a 42.83 time. Mickelson set another personal record at 44.08 and finished third. King finished in eighth with a personal best 46.14 time.

Toryn Richards, Solorzano, Whitman and Babb combined for fourth place in the 4x100 relay event with a 45.96 time.

Cade Hudyma and Connor Hudyma both set personal records in the shot put and earned places at the State Meet. Ca. Hudyma threw 45-00.50 for third while Co. Hudyma placed sixth with a 44-02.00 throw.

Babb threw 144-06 in the discus to win the event for the Scotties. Vaughn Miller placed third at 142-00 followed directly by Co. Hudyma in fourth with a 140-04 throw. Myles Yoakam placed ninth at 116-10.

Miller placed second in the javelin with a 160-04 throw. Babb, Yoakam and Solorzano took ninth, 10th and 11th, respectively. Babb threw 129-08. Yoakam hit a 122-00 distance and Solorzano threw 121-08.

Whitman cleared 5-02.00 in the high jump for seventh place. Tavin Boland took ninth with a 5-00.00 height.

Solorzano won the pole vault after clearing 13-01.00, a personal best. Mickelson also vaulted a personal best – 12-06.00 – to place second.

Liam Chapman placed sixth in the long jump at 17-09.50. Solorzano jumped 17-06.75 for ninth place followed by Boland in 11th with a 16-04.50 jump.

Boland set a personal record in the triple jump and placed sixth at 37-00.50. Noah Runner took ninth at 35-09.00.

Girls

Gina Page placed fourth in the 100 meters at 13.42 and second in the 200 meters with a 28.01 time. Joely Chappell placed 10th in the 100 meters at 13.77 and ran a 29.09 for eighth in the 200 meters. Page placed eighth in the 400 meters at 1:06.17.

Emily See ran a season best 2:29.76 in the 800 meters for fourth place while Tanae Baker took sixth with a 2:32.49 time. Riley Evenson-Glasoe placed 10th at 2:49.34. Baker ran a personal best 5:16.79 to take second in the 1600 meters, 0.01 out of first place, and move her into second overall in Scottie girls history. See placed fifth at 5:38.68, a season best. Haleigh Huntsman placed 10th at 6:11.12 followed by Kheyerah Bilger in 11th at 6:13.70, a season record. See also set a season record in the 3200 meters at 12:26.34 to take fourth place. Huntsman finished in sixth at 13:03.63 followed by Bilger in seventh at 13:34.09, a personal record. Baker scratched the race as she had pre-qualified for State earlier in the season.

Yoakam won the girls 100m hurdles at 16.70 and Ava Runner set a personal record at 18.79 for ninth place. Both Yoakam and Runner qualified in the 300m hurdles. Yoakam won at 50.89 and Runner ran a 51.67 for fourth place.

Abigail Kulczyk, Ellie Tryan, Kaylly Turner and Runner placed ninth in the 4x100 relay with a 58.13 time. Chappell, Yoakam, See and Page placed second in the 4x400 relay with a 4:25.77 time.

Hannah Holinde threw a personal best 35-01.50 in the shot put to take third place for the Scotties. She took 10th in the discus with an 82-05 throw.

Eve Stone placed second in the high jump at 4-10.00 and Kimber Dulaney cleraed 4-08.00 for fourth place. Stone also qualified in the pole vault at 9-06.00 and a fifth place finish. Yoakam vaulted 10-00.00 for third place in the event.

Chappell earned second in the long jump at 15-06.00 while Stone set a season record at 14-04.00 for eighth place. Yoakam, Chappell, Stone and Runner all placed in the triple jump to extend their seasons. Yoakam won at 33-02.75. Chappell jumped 31-11.75 for fourth followed by Stone in fifth at 30-10.50. Runner jumped 30-06.00 for sixth place.

The MHSA Class A-B State Track & Field Meet will be held Friday and Saturday, May 24-25, at the Laurel Sport Complex.
