Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
Memorial Day weekend will be busy here in Glasgow. Saturday morning May 25, volunteers will meet at the Highland Cemetery at 9 a.m. to place flags on all veterans’ grave sites. Come help us out as the more help we have, the less time it takes. This should only take a couple of hours at most so the rest of your day will be free. We will pick up the flags at 1 p.m. on Memorial Day, May 27.
The Memorial Day program will be held at the VFW starting at 10:30 a.m. Weather permitting, it will be held outside in the parking lot next to the flag memorial. Following the singing of the National Anthem, the Pledge of Allegiance, we will have the Invocation by VFW Chaplain Phil Wilson.
The guest speaker will be veteran Travis Lamb who served in southwest Asia. The VFW and American Legion Commanders and their Auxiliaries will honor our fallen comrades by placing their wreaths at the base of the memorial. Benediction, retiring of the colors, Firing Squad and Echoing Taps will complete the program.
Everyone is invited to stay for a potluck dinner immediately following the program. Fried chicken and buns will be furnished by the Auxiliary so please bring a salad or dessert to share.
