Glasgow High School's Berry Recognized At The BPA National Leadership Conference

Glasgow High School senior Daniel Berry from Glasgow's Business Professionals of America (BPA) chapter were among the 6,500 attendees representing nearly 800 school chapters who attended the 2024 BPA National Leadership Conference in Chicago, Ill., May 10-14.

While in Chicago, all students vied for top honors in BPA's Workplace Skill Assessment Program competitions, which cover the areas of business administration; digital communication and design; finance; health administration; information technology; and management, marketing and communication. Conference participants also attended professional development workshops, received awards for community service activities, and elected BPA's 2024–2025 national student leadership team.

Berry participated in 310 Server Administration Using Microsoft Office and 320 Computer Security (Network Security). There were 35 students in the 310 competition and Berry placed in the top 10, which is what is recognized at the conference. He also passed the certification test through Certiport which is difficult. Only the top three get the hardware.

"I had a great group this year and am looking forward to next year," reflected advisor Jill Page.

"Business Professionals of America (BPA) is a student organization at GHS that preps students for careers in business and information technology fields. BPA provides opportunities for students to develop leadership, technical, and professional skills through various competitions, conferences, and networking events. I would love to have all the students wanting a career in business to participate."

Berry is Page's first student to accomplish these achievements and to Page's knowledge the only student to achieve the top 10 in an event from Glasgow High School history at the National level.

"Participating in the National Leadership Conference is the culmination of a year's work for our student members and their advisors," said BPA's Executive Director/CEO Dr. Steven J. Mitchell. "We applaud all of these members who demonstrated workplace skills in competitive events, gained new insights by participating in workshops, earned valuable industry certifications, or were recognized for individual or chapter achievements."

While in Chicago, participants also had opportunities to network with other BPA members and business leaders, visit famous attractions in the region, and participate in several community service activities honoring the Special Olympics, BPA's national service project.

The 2024 National Leadership Conference was presented by Certiport, a Pearson VUE business, the leading provider of certification exam development, delivery and program management services.

BPA's 2025 National Leadership Conference will be held in Orlando, Fla., from May 7 to 11.
