Scottie Track Teams Win District 2B Meet

Girls Score 219 Team Points, Boys 212

Both the Scottie girls and boys track teams came home from Wolf Point May 11 with District 2B titles. The girls scored 219 team points, outpacing their nearest competition by 103 points. The Glasgow boys finished 96 points ahead the second place team with 212 team points.

The girls district trophy is the 22nd in school history and marks the seventh time in a row the Scottie girls have brought home the hardware. Glasgow's girls established nine new personal records and five season bests in Wolf Point.

The Glasgow boys brought home the title for the third time in a row and 18th time in school history. They set 23 personal bests and two season records at the first postseason event of the season.

Girls

Tanae Baker, Mayzie Yoakam, Eve Stone and Joely Chappell brought home individual wins for the Glasgow girls while the 4x400 relay team of Yoakam, Kheyerah Bilger, Chappell and Gina Page also won their event.

Baker won the 800, 1600 and 3200 meter runs. Yoakam won the 110m and 300m hurdles as well as the triple jump. Stone took the top slot in the high jump while Chappell won the long jump.

Page and Chappell will advance to the Divisional Meet this weekend in Glasgow after placing third and fifth in the 100 meters. Page ran a season best 13.37 and Chappell ran a 13.76. Kaylly Turner ran a 14.52 to finish in 14th place out of 25 runners. Ellie Tryan took 17th at 15.02 and Chezney Olson ran a 15.40 for 19th place.

Page and Chappell will also advance in the 200 meters after taking second at 28.03 and fifth at 28.83, a season best for Chappell. Turner placed 11th out of 17 in the race at 30.66 followed by Abigail Kulczyk in 12th at 30.94. Paityn Britzman set a personal record at 33.99 and finished in 15th place.

In the 400 meters, Page took third with a season-best 1:04.07 to advance to the Divisional Meet. Kulczyk ran a personal best 1:10.71 to take eighth place out of 10 in the race.

The Glasgow girls claimed the top four spots in the 800 meters with Baker, Emily See, Kimber Dulaney and Riley Evenson-Glasoe advancing to the next postseason event. Baker set a season recored at 2:27.02 for first place out of eight runners. See earned second at 2:32.77 followed by Dulaney in third at 2:39.02. Evenson-Glasoe ran a 2:47.18 for fourth place.

Baker, Haleigh Huntsman, See and Bilger took first, second, third and fifth out of eight in the 1600 meters, respectively. Baker ran a 5:35.68 to win while Huntsman set a personal record at 5:57.27 for second. See claimed third at 6:01.30 and Bilger ran the race in 6:20.54 for fifth.

Baker, See, Huntsman and Bilger will also advance in the 3200 meters. Baker won the event at 11:45.54. See ran a 12:41.00 for second place. Huntsman took third with a personal best 12:55.75. Bilger took fifth at 13:51.28.

Yoakam won the 100m hurdles at 16.96, beating seven others. Ava Runner set a personal record at 18.90 for fifth place to also advance to the Divisional Meet. The two took first and second in the 300m hurdles with personal records. Yoakam earned first at 49.39 and Runner ran a 51.65 for second out of seven in the race.

Kulczyk, Tryan, Turner and Runner combined for fifth place out of six teams in the 4x100 relay with a 56.81 time. Yoakam, Bilger, Chappell and Page ran a 4:37.14 in the 4x400 relay to beat five other teams.

Hannah Holinde moves on in the shot put and discus for Glasgow. She took fourth out of 18 in the shot put with a 33-02.00 toss and fifth out of 22 in the discus with a 91-10 throw. Myli Swindler threw a season best 75-07 in the discus to take 10th place. Molly Whitmer claimed 14th at 65-07 and Lacey White threw 58-11 for 17th place.

White led the Scottie girls in the javelin, taking 10th out of 17 with a 62-08 throw. Kulczyk finished directly behind her in 11th with a 60-08 throw. Swindler threw 58-10 for 14th followed by Runner in 15th at 58-07 and Whitmer in 16th at 51-03.

Stone won the high jump, beating six others, with a 4-08.00 jump. Dulaney also cleared 4-08.00 for second place and a slot at the Divisional Meet.

Stone, Yoakam and Tryan all placed in the pole vault and will compete this weekend in Glasgow. Stone and Yoakam cleared 9-06.00 for second and third place, respectively. Tryan finished in sixth place with a 6-06.00 vault.

Chappell and Stone will represent the Scotties in the long jump at the Divisional Meet. Chappell won the event with a 15-08.00 jump. Stone jumped 14-01.75 for fifth place out of 18 competitors. Page placed seventh at 14-00.00.

Yoakam, Chappell, Stone and Runner all placed in the triple jump to extend their season. Yoakam won the event, beating seven others, at 32-07.50. Chappell placed third at 32-00.50. Stone and Runner set personal bests to finish fourth and fifth with distances of 31-06.00 and 30-09.00, respectively.

Boys

Khye Gamas, Wyatt Babb, Vaughn Miller and Nick Solorzano all won individual events at the District 2B Meet for the Scottie boys.

Gamas advanced to the Divisional Meet in the 100 meters with a tie for third place out of 19 runners. He ran an 11.86. Toryn Richards and Kyler Whitman took seventh and eighth, respectively. Richards ran a personal best 12.04 while Whitman ran a 12.10. Jacob Potter took 19th with a personal best time of 15.57.

Gamas and Whitman both advance in the 200 meters after setting personal records in Wolf Point. Gamas won the event at 23.57 and Whitman took fifth at 24.36. Liam Chapman took 10th out of 18 at 25.38, a personal best, and Wyatt Sugg ran a 25.98 for 12th place.

Kyler Holinde and Tavin Boland will represent the Scotties in the 800 meters at Divisionals after taking second and third, respectively. Holinde ran a personal best 1:57.84, finishing just 0.05 behind Wolf Point's Peyton Summers and ahead of 14 other runners. Boland also set a personal best, running a 2:05.84.

K. Holinde and Timothy Pearson advanced in the 1600 meters. Holinde ran a 4:48.70 for second place out of 12 while Pearson finished sixth at 5:40.75. Rowen Kloker took eighth with a 5:54.58 time. He also placed fourth out of eight in the 3200 meters with a personal best 12:17.23 to advance to the Divisional Meet.

Gamas won the 110m hurdles with a personal record 16.70, out of seven in the event. Adam Mickelson took second at 17.57 followed by Michael King in fourth at 18.07, a personal best. Gage Larsen also set a personal record and earned a spot at the Divisional Meet with a 21.37 time. Dillon Hughes ran a season best 21.53 for seventh place.

Gamas also won the 300m hurdles, running a season best 42.51 to beat nine others. Mickelson ran a 46.22 for third followed directly by King in fourth at 46.68. Noah Runner placed seventh at 47.39, a personal record.

Richards, Solorzano, Whitman and Babb combined for a 46.60 and second out of five in the 4x100 relay. In the 4x400 relay, Boland, Holinde, King and Whitman placed third out of five with a 3:52.82 time.

Connor Hudyma and Cade Hudyma earned spots at Divisional in the shot put with personal records in Wolf Point. Co. Hudyma took second at 42-10.00 and Ca. Hudyma tied for third at 42-03.00. Rex Monson and Sugg also set personal records in the event. Monson placed eighth out of 26 at 39-01.00 and Sugg threw 37-02.25 for 11th place.

Babb, Miller, Co. Hudyma and Myles Yoakam all placed in the discus to keep their postseasons alive. Babb won the event, beating 24 others, with a 140-00 throw. Miller was right behind him in second at 139-11. Co. Hudyma threw 128-09 for fourth place while Yoakam threw a personal best 123-11 for fifth place.

Miller won the javelin, beating 19 others with a 157-08 throw. Babb threw a personal best 149-00 for third place. Solorzano and Yoakam also advance with fifth and sixth place showings in Wolf Point. Solorzano threw a personal best 137-08 and Yoakam threw 126-00. Runner placed ninth at 116-10, a personal record.

Boland and Whitman both placed in the high jump, taking second and fourth out of six. Boland cleared a personal best 5-06.00 and Whitman cleared 5-04.00.

Solorzano won the pole vault at 12-09.00, a personal record. Mickelson cleared 11-06.00 for second place and a spot at the Divisional Meet.

Chapman, Boland and Solorzano will all compete in the long jump at the Divisional Meet. Chapman placed third out of 16 with a personal record 19-04.00 jump. Boland jumped 18-05.00 for fourth followed directly by Solorzano in fifth at 17-10.50.

In the triple jump, Boland, Richards and Runner will advance. Boland took second out of 10 with a 36-05.00 distance. Richards jumped 36-03.50 for fourth place and Runner earned sixth at 35-09.00.

The Northern B Track Meet will run Friday and Saturday, May 17 and 18, at Scottie Field in Glasgow with events beginning at 4 p.m. Friday.
