Scottie Softball 2-1-1 In Final Regular Season Weekend

Divisional Tournament In Glasgow

The Scottie softball team went 2-1-1 in their final weekend of the regular season at the East/West B/C Challenge in Cut Bank. “We got off to a slow start, losing 15-2 to defending state champion Conrad for the third time this year, but we quickly turned things around taking down Troy 16-1 in our second game Friday,” assistant coach Brian Burleson told the Courier. “We had a huge challenge awaiting us early the next morning facing MAC (Mission-Arlee, Charlo), who had finished second at state for three straight years. The girls answered the call, taking them down 12-6. We closed out the weekend tying Eureka 4-4, in a game called because of the time limit. Brynn Donaldson struck out 14 in the 6 inning game!”

Conrad rushed out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning against Glasgow and secured the win with two runs in the second and three in third. The Scotties got on the board in the bottom of the fourth with two runs but Conrad sent four runners home in the top of the next inning.

Glasgow was outhit 11-3 in the game and committed five errors while Conrad played a clean game. Kelbi Wersal took the loss in the pitcher’s circle, going two and one-third innings with six errors and one strikeout. Macy Martin had one error and two strikeouts in two and two-thirds innings in relief.

Donaldson had one hit and two RBIs in leading Glasgow at the plate. Hayden Green had one hit and one run with Martin adding one hit and Riley Clampitt one run.

Glasgow went up 2-0 in the first over Troy and racked up nine runs in the second. The Scotties scored twice more in the third before Troy scored their single run in the fourth. Glasgow answered with three more runs in the fifth.

The Scotties connected at the plate 17 times while holding Troy to two hits. Both teams committed three errors. Donaldson earned the win going three innings in the circle with no errors and three strikeouts. Brynlie Boreson pitched two innings in relief with one strikeout and no errors.

CharLee McColly racked up four hits, three runs, three RBIs and two stolen bases in the win. Berkley Hillman added three hits with a double, two runs and two RBIs. Green connected three times at bat with one run and four RBIs. Halle Hunter notched two hits with a double, two runs, two RBIs and a stolen base.

Martin added two hits, one run, one RBI and a stolen base while Tessa Miller put two hits, two runs, one RBI and one stolen base on the stats sheet. Clampitt had a hit and a run with Ella Eggebrecht scoring twice and with one RBI. Donaldson notched two runs in the win.

Glasgow went up 1-0 against MAC in the first before the Scotties’ opponents lit up the scoreboard in the second with two runs. The Scotties answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning before MAC took the lead with four runs in the third. Glasgow took control of the game in the bottom of the fifth with an eight-run streak.

Glasgow outhit MAC 13-10 and committed zero errors while MAC had three in the game. Donaldson went three and one-third innings in the circle with six errors and four strikeouts. Boreson earned the win in relief with no errors or strikeouts.

Hunter had three hits with a double, two runs and four RBIs while Wersal added two hits with a double and two runs. Clampitt had a double, a run and two RBIs. Martin notched a hit, an RBI and two runs. Miller scored once and had one hit with two RBIs.

Hillman, Green and Boreson each had a hit, a run and an RBI. Eggebrecht had a hit and a run with Donaldson adding one hit.

Glasgow scored once in the first and the third before Eureka tied it in the bottom of the fourth. The Scotties regained the lead with two runs in the fifth but Eureka tied it again in the bottom of the sixth before the game was called for time. Both teams had five hits. Glasgow committed two errors while Eureka held theirs to one.

Donaldson spent all six innings in the circle with two errors and 14 strikeouts.

Hunter had one hit, one run, one RBI and two stolen bases for Glasgow. Miller had one hit, one run and two stolen bases while Hillman added a hit, a run and one stolen base. Green and Clampitt both had a hit and an RBI. Martin added one run and two stolen bases.

The Eastern B/C Divisional Tournament will be held at Sullivan Park in Glasgow Thursday through Saturday, May 16-18. Glasgow opens the tournament Thursday at 5 p.m. against Stillwater on Field 2.
