Nashua Tracksters Win At Whitewater

The Nashua track teams hit the Scobey Froshmore Invite in Wolf Point April 23 and the Whitewater Invitational April 26. The Porcupines also made appearances at the 42nd Annual Norm Girard Top 10 Meet in Glasgow April 29 and the Gene Nelson Memorial Invite in Wolf Point May 3.

The Nashua boys tied for eighth at the Froshmore Invite with 15 points with four personal records. They set 14 personal bests in Whitewater and scored 105.33 points to win the Invite.

The Porcupine girls took sixth at the Froshmore Invite with 35 points and eighth at Whitewater with 18 points. They set three personal records in Wolf Point and two in Whitewater.

In Wolf Point, the boys took 15th with 3.5 points while setting nine personal records and two season records. The girls ended in a three-way tie for ninth with 14 points and set two personal records.

Froshmore Invite

Boys

Charlie Kaasa took sixth in the 1600 meters out of 13 with a 5:45.78 and third out of eight in the 3200 meters with a 12:01.98 time.

Grady Nielsen placed fourth out of 32 in the shot put with a 36-03.00 toss. Tyson Adkins placed 17th at 30-02.00. Nielsen also led the Porcupines in the discus, taking seventh out of 39 with a 97-02 throw. Adkins placed 27th at 66-09 and Norman Sibley threw 50-07 to take 35th place. Adkins led the boys in the javelin, taking 14th out of 23 with a 78-00 throw. Sibley threw a personal best 69-04 for 17th followed by Kaasa in 23rd at 59-08.

Jackson Abern cleared a personal best 5-02.00 in the high jump to take fourth out of seven. He tied for 12th out 31 in the long jump at 15-10.00. Adkins jumped a personal best 14-03.00 for 24th while Sibley also hit a personal record at 11-02.00 and took 29th place.

Girls

Katey Dykstra won the 200 meters over 19 other runners with a 28.75 time. Dyllan Bergstrom hit a personal best 6:24.50 in the 1600 meters for second out of nine runners. Bergstrom took second in the 100m hurdles out of 13 at 20.11, another personal best.

Maria Grimes set a personal record in the discus at 57-11 to take 23rd out of 38 competitors. She placed 25th out of 35 in the javelin at 60-11 and 31st out of 39 in the shot put with a 20-06.00 throw.

Dykstra cleared 4-06.00 in the high jump to earn third out of seven. She tied for first in the long jump at 14-02.00 while Bergstrom jumped 9-10.00 for 28th out of 32 in the event. Dykstra claimed sixth in the triple jump with a 28-03.00 distance.

Whitewater Invitational

Boys

Kaasa took fifth out of eight in the 1600 meters at 5:53.67 and second out of four in the 3200 meters at 12:15.53. Noah Leckie set a personal record in the 300m hurdles at 1:02.19 to take fourth out of four.

Damon Adkins, Caden Laumeyer, Nielsen and Leckie combined to win the 4x100 relay over one team with a time of 53.39. In the 4x400 relay, D. Adkins, Kaasa, Bubb Pugh and Abern ran a 4:40.09 for second out of two teams.

Laumeyer paced the Porcupines in the shot put, taking second out of 20 with a season record 38-01.00 throw. T. Adkins and D. Adkins took eighth and ninth, respectively, both with personal records. T. Adkins threw 32-05.00 while D. Adkins hit 32-01.00.

Laumeyer won the discus with a personal best 128-09 throw, followed by D. Adkins in second, also with a personal best 107-01. Leckie threw a personal best 92-06 for fifth out of 21 in the event. T. Adkins threw 68-06 for 15th followed by Sibley in 16th at 67-01, a personal record.

D. Adkins won the javelin out of 27 throwers with a personal best 147-04 throw. Laumeyer, Leckie and T. Adkins also set personal bests in the event. Laumeyer threw 100-0 for 10th, Leckie 93-03 for 12th and T. Adkins 93-01 for 13th place. Kaasa placed 24th at 62-05 followed by Sibley in 25th at 59-08.

Bubba Pugh ended in three-way tie for sixth place in the high jump after clearing a personal best 5-02.00 while Abern also cleared 5-02.00 for 10th out 12 places. Leckie cleraed 7-00.00, a personal record, in the pole vault to take fifth out of five.

Pugh jumped 17-04.50 in the long jump to take second out of 17 competitors. Abern tied for fourth at 16-06.50. Leckie set a personal record at 15-02.00 for ninth place. T. Adkins and Sibley took 15th and 16th at 12-09.00 and 10-06.00, respectively.

Pugh won the triple jump out of eight at 37-09.50 while Abern took fourth at 35-09.50.

Girls

Bergstrom ran a 6:36.77 in the 1600 meters for ninth place.

Boys

Kaasa ran an 11:51.93 in the 3200 meters for ninth place. Laumeyer threw 114-05 in the discus to take ninth and D. Adkins took seventh in the javelin with a 141-01 throw.

Memorial Invite

Girls

Dykstra placed second out of 46 in the 100 meters at 14.20. Bergstrom ran a personal best 15.80 for 22nd place. Dykstra took 10th out of 34 in the 200 meters at 30.42.

Bergstrom placed seventh out of nine in the 1600 meters with a 6:59.25 time. She ran a 20.67 in the 100m hurdles for eight place out of 15 racers.

Dykstra took third in the high jump out of 10 with a 4-06.00 jump. She placed eighth out of 14 in the pole vault after clearing 6-00.00, a personal record. She tied for ninth, out of 36, in the long jump at 13-08.00. Bergstrom finished 32nd with a 10-02.00 jump.

Boys

Nielsen placed 25th out of 65 in the 100 meters with a season record 13.34 time.

Kaasa took 17th out of 32 in the 1600 meters with a 5:49.43 time. He set a personal record in the 3200 meters at 11:49.69 and finished fifth out of 20 runners.

T. Adkins and Sibley both set personal records in the 110m hurdles, taking 11th and 12th out of 12, respectively. T. Adkins ran a 23.75 while Sibley finished in 41.58.

Abern and Leckie set personal records in the 300m hurdles at 53.08 and 1:01.33 for ninth and 13th place out of 14, respectively.

In the 4x100 relay, Nielsen, Laumeyer, D. Adkins and Leckie combined for eighth place out of 11 teams with a 49.98 time.

Laumeyer led the Porcupines in the shot put, taking ninth out of 55 with a season record 39-02.50 throw. D. Adkins threw a personal best 32-06.00 for 25th place. T. Adkins finished in 32nd place at 31-02.00.

Nielsen set a personal record and finished sixth out of 65 in the discus with a 120-04 distance. Laumer finished eighth at 114-06. D. Adkins threw 96-10 for 19th place. T. Adkins ended in 45th place at 76-02 followed by Leckie in 47th with a 74-01 throw. Sibley took 62nd at 56-04.

D. Adkins led Nashua in the javlin with a 12th place finish out of 55 and a 120-08 throw. Laumeyer threw a personal best 101-07 for 22nd place. T. Adkins threw 78-00 for 35th and Leckie took 39th at 74-03. Kaasa threw 61-03 for 46th and Sibley finished in 46th at 60-07.

Abern tied for sixth out of nine in the high jump with a 5-02.00 height.

Pugh tied for 18th in the long jump out of 55 with a 17-00.00 distance. Abern took 24th at 16-00.25 while T. Akins jumped 14-01.00 for 40th place. Sibley finished in 50th place at 11-05.25, a personal record.

Pugh and Abern took ninth and 11th in the triple jump, out of 21 in the event. Pugh put up a 34-08.00 distance while Abern hit 33-10.50.

The Porcupines enter the postseason at the 3C District Meet in Wolf Point Saturday, May 11. Events begin at 9 a.m.
