Wearing Hats

I must apologize as I intended to get this to the Courier before Easter, but I am going to plead old-age. Since it is still on my mind and something many of us will remember, I am going to do so today.

Remember when most ladies wore hats when they went shopping or to church? I really thought of that at Easter time. Many of you will remember the song “Put On Your Easter Bonnet, With All The Frills Upon It, And You Will Be The Grandest Lady In The Easter Parade.”

I decided to dig in my closet and see what I still had and did find a hat to wear Easter Sunday, but I did not get to the Easter parade.

I do remember being able to purchase women’s head wear “hats” upstairs at our local J.C. Penny store.

Some of you may remember Daisy Keller and all of her hats that were donated to our Pioneer Museum. I had a couple young girls that were delighted to go to the Museum and try on hats and admire themselves. This is no longer something that any of us can do and I am guessing this came about due to the possible passing of head lice. It sure was entertaining for young girls.
