Lustre Boys Win Scobey Invite

The Lustre Christian track teams kicked off the 2024 season at the Scobey Invite April 13. The boys team won the meet with 106 team points.

BOYS

Terran Joseph won the 100 and 200 meters with times of 11.98 and 24.20. Joseph Lee placed 42nd, out of 52, in the 100 meters with a time of 14.51 followed directly by Mason Hilkemann in 43rd at 14.68. Jacob Rigby ran a 15.67 for 46th place.

In the 200 meters, Ifeanyi Aniobi placed 13th out of 20 with a 26.74 time. Joseph took second, out of 18, in the 400 meters at 57.15. Byron Ewing finished right behind him in third place at 57.82.

Diek Olfert led the Lions in the 800 meters, running a 2:18.76 and finishing 12th out of 32 runners. Hadden Olfert placed 20th at 2:33.89 followed by Clay Redding in 22nd at 2:36.77 and Lee in 28th at 2:52.30.

Cayden Klatt ran a 6:20.61 in the 1600 meters for 13th out of 18 runners.

Aniobi, Ewing, Brian Guedes and Joseph combined for a 45.96 and first place in the 4x100 relay while the 4x400 relay team finished in 3:59.53 and third place out of five teams.

Hilkemann placed fourth out of 36 in the shot put with a 38-08.00 throw. Nathan Fast took 12th at 33-11.50.

Hilkemann also led Lustre in the discus with a 103-00 throw and ninth place out of 44 competitors. Klatt threw 96-05 for 12th followed by Ewing in 13th with a 96-01 throw. H. Olfert took 19th at 86-08 with Fast in 20th at 86-02. Rigby threw 46-05 for 44th place.

In the javelin, Hilkemaan threw 105-08 for 16th place out of 40 throwers. Reddig threw 92-10 for 20th followed by H. Olfert at 91-10 in 21st and Klatt at 91-09 in 22nd place. Fast threw 85-04 for 28th place.

Johnslee Pierre won the hight jump, long jump and triple jump. He cleared 5-08.00 in the high jump to tie for first out of six jumpers. He had a 19-03.00 jump in the long jump to beat 33 others competing. He put up a distance of 43-07.50 to win out of 12 in the triple jump. He took fifth in the long jump at 17-06.50.

Diek Olfert placed fourth in the high jump at 5-02.00 and fourth in the triple jump at 37-06.00.

Guedes took second in the long jump at 19-00.00 followed directly by Joseph in third at 18-10..00. Rigby jumped 13-03.00 for 26th place.

GIRLS

Abby Olfert led the Lions in the 100 meters, running a 14.60 and finishing in 15th out of 41 runners. Rachel Pew took 19th place at 14.95. Jaden Gibson ran a 35.63 in the 200 meters for 18th place out of 19 racers. The Lions took eighth out of nine teams in the 4x100 relay with a time of 1:03.09.

Pew led the team in the shot put, discus and javelin. She threw 22-04.50 in the shot put for 20th place out of 27 and 61-01 in the discus for 14th out of 25 competitors. She finished 25th out of 29 in the javelin with a 55-10 throw.

Sara Dahl threw 17-04.50 in the shot put for 26th place followed by Cassidy Grider in 27th with a 17-04.00 throw. Dahl threw 49-03 in the discus for 18th while Grider threw 38-02 for 25th place. In the javelin Dahl took 27th at 44-10 while Grider finished in 29th place with a 30-10 throw.

Gibson took 22nd in the long jump out of 35 with an 11-09.00 distance. Olfert jumped 11-07.00 for 24th place.

Lustre Christian is scheduled to attend the Savage Invitational in Sidney Thursday, April 18, and the Sidney Invitational Saturday, April 20. Underclassmen are set to compete in the Scobey Froshmore Invite in Wolf Point Tuesday, April 23.
