For the week of March 18 through 24, there were 12 motor vehicle stops, two reports of loose dogs, two reports of loose livestock, one report of a barking dog, one report of a missing dog and two reports of motor vehicle accidents which resulted in deer being hit.
Monday, March 18
1830 – Caller reported a car with out-of-state plates about east of the Nashua overpass. She doesn’t know if anyone is inside. Dispatch advised the caller officers have dealt with the situation the other day. Dispatch also confirmed with the deputy that the vehicle was still at the location.
2123 – Caller reported a big deer that’s laying in the middle of US 2 and the deer is dead. The caller is unable to move the deer. A message was left for DOT.
Tuesday, March 19
1007 – Caller reported someone has her information and is attempting to make an unemployment statement in her name. She spoke with someone who provided her a link to the Department of Justice and one of the steps was to contact local law enforcement. She is going to check her finances to make sure they were not tampered with.
1121 – Caller reported she collided with another vehicle. The hood popped up but the caller isn’t sure what happened with the other vehicle. There are no injuries to her knowledge.
1454 – Caller reported one of his drivers told him there is a vehicle swerving in and out of traffic. The driver was contacted who stated the vehicle is westbound on Highway 2 and was swerving in and out of traffic. The driver described it as they would slowly pull out to the opposite lane and then pull back into the westbound lane. They would also accelerate and then slow down.
1637 – Caller advised his keys are locked in the truck. A description of the vehicle was provided. A locksmith was contacted who will go to unlock the vehicle.
1836 – Caller reported a male drove his truck in front of her residence and a girl got out of the vehicle, grabbed a package that was dropped off today and then drove off. Her residence is fenced off and the gate is locked, this is to keep dogs out because she has dogs chained up in her yard. Reporting party stated this was all caught on camera.
1941 – A theft was reported. Deputy requested Roosevelt County be called and find out who is on call for Tribal.
Wednesday, March 20
0919 – A caller stated she heard a loud pop in her house and can smell burning. She is not able to see any smoke or flames but said she could smell the burning a little before the pop as well. She stated she has already been through one house fire so would like the fire department to respond. Hinsdale Fire was paged and NorVall Electric was notified. At 0945, it was advised the heat detector gun was all over but nothing was found. The fireplace was turned up and that is where the burning smell was coming from. A power strip was also found that was overload and that was what popped.
0927 – Caller reported a pick up with a trailer that has no one in or around it. It is blocking the alley. About 20 minutes later, officer spoke to a male who is doing some work at a nearby building. He will move the vehicle so others can get by.
1004 – Reporting party called in to report a scam call they just go. A male, with a foreign sounding accent, called wanting to get rid of her social security number. She did not give out any of her personal information.
1014 – A deputy advised he took a report for a bad check that occurred on Feb. 21, in the amount of over $6,000.
1210 – Reporting party came into the dispatch lobby to report a scam. He states it occurred about four to five weeks ago, where he got a call from a female who stated he owed money on a credit card and with interest, he owed them $15,000. He said they had his social security number, his address but not his date of birth. He contacted the Social Security Administration and froze his account. He also contacted his bank. Dispatch also advised to contact the credit card company even though it is not the same credit card company the female was talking about, which he does not have.
1912 – The caller reported the theft of a green house frame. She said it was stolen on the 18th and the store has video of the suspects. The caller was patched through to a deputy.
Thursday, March 21
0358 – Reporting party called and said there was a commotion that caused his dog to start barking and woke him up. He said when he looked outside, a male was there and thought he was messing with the power box. A deputy was notified who responded. At 0454, deputy advised there are still prints in the snow, but the suspect never stepped on the property. The deputy believes the suspect is staying at the nearby residence.
1024 – Reporting party advised she needs an officer. She was turning into the lot and slid into a truck. There are no injuries. A minute later the other driver also called about the accident. At 1038, an officer advised there is minimal damage to the vehicles.
1406 – Reporting party called in a motor vehicle accident, pulling a U-Haul trailer has turned over on the driver’s side. The reporting party was driving by and didn’t’ have any information about any injuries. Another call regarding the accident was made from an employee at a nearby business. There are no injuries. MHP Dispatch was notified and deputy took photos.
1959 – Caller reported that semis were having trouble climbing the hill at the Cherry Creek Bridge detour. He was wondering if more sand could be put down in the morning. DOT was advised.
Friday, March 22
0726 – Caller reported her vehicle is in the ditch. She was on the highway when her brakes didn’t work and she slid. She will be back later in the day to get the vehicle.
0832 – Caller reported people sliding at the intersection and almost hitting each other. The intersection needs sanding because people are sliding all over.
0922 – Reporting party shared concerns about a disabled pickup. The truck has been there for a couple of days on the side of the road and now it has snow piling up around it. The listed phone number for the pickup was called but there was no answer. The individual called back and stated she needed a different jack and is going to move the vehicle sometime in the next hour. At 1135, the caller requested to speak with MHP because they had the vehicle towed.
1018 – Caller reported a vehicle off the road and the ditch just below the hill east of Glasgow. There is a man and a woman in the vehicle and a description of the vehicle was provided. Another call reported the accident. MHP was notified and deputy, who were unable to locate the accident. There are tracks at the location and it looks like the delineator post was hit.
1500 – Reporting party called 911 because she didn’t know the non-emergency number to the Sheriff’s Office. She stated she was part of the traffic stop from earlier and needed to speak with the officer. Dispatch took her name and number, and passed along the information to the officer.
1948 – Suspicious persons were recorded. Deputy advised he is out with two individuals.
2038 – Reporting party said a vehicle crossed the center line and clipped his mirror on the driver’s side. The reporting party is continuing westbound as he has parts to deliver. Deputy advised the party will need to fill out a statement form when he comes through Glasgow. At 2105, officer met the reporting party in the jail lobby and took his statement. The subject had a concealed firearm in his jacket pocket and a PBT of 0.178 was logged. The vehicle’s keys and dog was brought the party’s ex-wife.
2204 – Deputy reported someone went off the road, hit a delineating post and kept going. A message was left for MDOT.
Saturday, March 23
1408 – Caller from the high school requested the road be plowed before the night’s event. The County Road Department was contacted but received the voicemail. A different number was called and the male will make some calls and have it plowed.
1459 – Officer advised the hill is really slippery and could use some gravel. Public Works was contacted but there was no answer. A message was left.
Sunday, March 24
0143 – A public assist call was recorded. There was an Expedition that looks unoccupied. A deputy arrived and reported the vehicle is off the road and is not a hazard.
0539 – Reporting party stated Hwy 2 is drifted to Nashua. Some drifts are two to three feet and is hard as a rock. MDOT has trucks moving out.
