Montana Representatives Celebrate Montana, Ag And Ag Day

March 19, National Ag Day and to recognize Montana ag, Senator Daines made the following statement:

“Montana’s rich ag legacy helps make us special, and it’s an important part of our Montana way of life. Today on National Ag Day, and every day, I’m thankful for the Montana farmers and ranchers that work sun up to sun down to help feed our state, nation and the world.”

Congressman Matt Rosendale (MT-02) also released the following statement in celebration of National Ag Day:

“Today and every day, we recognize farmers and ranchers across the Treasure State who work tirelessly to feed and fuel our country,” said Rep. Rosendale. “It is an honor to represent and fight for thousands of Montana agricultural producers here in Washington, D.C. Happy National Ag Day!”

Continuing ag week in Montana, Governor Gianforte shared a meal with local producers in Charlo on March 20 to promote the state’s agriculture industry.

“Montana’s farmers and ranchers play a critical role in our communities by providing essential products that nourish our state and nation,” Gov. Gianforte said. “During Ag Week, we recognize their hard work and dedication to ensure that we have access to high-quality, locally sourced food and other products.”

The governor concluded the lunch adding, “Our state’s economy and communities rely on agriculture, and we are committed to investing in value-added ag to create jobs and expand opportunities for our hardworking producers like you all.”

On March 22, Congressman Matt Rosendale (MT-02) honored hard-working farmers and ranchers throughout America on the House Floor in celebration of Montana and National Ag week.

“Mr. Speaker, I rise today in recognition and celebration of both national and Montana Ag week. Food security is national security and across the treasure state and the country farmers work tirelessly to keep food supply safe and plentiful, so we don’t have to rely on foreign nations to sustain our population. Agriculture isn’t just an industry in Montana- it’s our way of life.

“It contributes an average of $5.2 billion a year to the economy. Producers’ hard work, dedication, and resilience playing essential role in feeding our communities, sustaining our economy, and managing our land. While Ag production is a vital industry it doesn’t come without its challenges.

“Congress must first secure a strong crop insurance program that gives producers certainty and secondly pass my Land and National Defense Act which would prohibit the Chinese Communist Party from buying farmland in our country. Both initiatives can be included in this year’s Farm Bill to show producers, folks here in Washington haven’t forgotten about them and have their backs in times of need. Ag producers deserve recognition for the work they do to take care of our great nation. Thank you, Mr. Speaker. I yield back.”
