Bantams End Season At State

0-3 in Pool Play

The Bantam Ice Dawgs ended their season at the MAHA State Tournament in Missoula this past weekend with a 0-3 record in pool play. Glasgow fell 9-4 to Butte in their first game March 15 and lost to Havre 11-1 later that day. The Ice Dawgs season ended with a 4-2 loss to Missoula.

Glasgow started strong against Butte in game one, scoring first and leading after one, but Butte came from behind to win in the second and third periods.

Jack Miller, assist Ellery Dedobbeleer, hit the back of the net for Glasgow in the first period, before Butte tied it and scored a go-ahead goal. Ian Anderson tied it at 2-2 before Orion Henry, assist Carter Holte, put Glasgow back up before the end of the first.

Butte regained control in the second period with three goals for a 5-3 lead at intermission. In the third, Butte scored again for a 6-3 lead before a goal from Abigail Henry brought Glasgow within two goals. However, Butte found the back of the net three more times before the final buzzer for the win.

Glasgow goaltender Rivers Sugg saw 26 attempts on his net for a .654 save percentage while the Dawgs’ offense put 29 pucks on net.

Butte held their penalty minutes to 3 on two calls while Glasgow served 6 minutes on four infractions. Carter Holte sat for unsportsmanlike conduct in the first and third, as well as interference in the second. Tay Morehouse was called for elbowing in the third.

Glasgow played Havre later that day and the Ice Hawks raced out to a 7-0 lead in the first period. Havre scored twice more in the second period before Breckin Partridge, assist Morehouse, put Glasgow on the scoreboard. The Hawks extended their lead back to 9 goals before intermission and scored once more in the final period for the win over the Dawgs.

Holte faced 18 shots on net in the first period for a .611 save percentage. Sugg saw 31 attempts in the next two periods for a .871 save percentage. The Glasgow offense put 22 shots on the Hawks net.

Havre played a clean game while Glasgow served 16 minutes on five penalties and gave up three power play goals. Trusten Stringer, elbowing, and Miller, roughing, sat in the first. Morehouse, tripping, and O. Henry, checking from behind and misconduct, took involuntary seats in the third period.

Glasgow faced Missoula in their final game of the tournament and the season. The Missoula Dogs scored first on a power play, but A. Henry answered on an assist from O. Henry. Missoula scored twice more though for a 3-1 lead at the end of one.

O. Henry scored in the second before Missoula pulled away again. Neither team found the back of the net in the third as Missoula won over Glasgow 4-2.

Glasgow put 24 shots on net while Sugg faced 33 attempts on his net for a .879 save percentage.

Missoula had six penalties for nine minutes in the box while Glasgow served 10 minutes 30 seconds on seven calls. Sugg, cross-checking; Holte, hooking, and O. Henry, interference, sat in the first. O. Henry, roughing; A. Henry, interference, and O. Henry, tripping drew whistles in the second, and Partridge sat for slashing in the third.

The Dawgs finished the season with a 5-14 record.
