Be Our Guest: Glasgow High School Drama Department Presents "Beauty and the Beast"

Excitement is mounting at Glasgow High School as students, directors, and the wider community eagerly anticipate the upcoming high school musical production, "Beauty and the Beast." Set to grace the stage this week, this eagerly awaited performance promises to be an unforgettable journey into a

poor, provincial town.

Under the creative direction of Lizzie Peters, Shyanne Wallace, Melissa Mickelson, and Sydney Hayward, "Beauty and the Beast" is poised to enchant audiences with its captivating storyline, vibrant characters, and show-stopping musical numbers. Months of meticulous preparation, tireless rehearsals, and boundless creativity have culminated in a production that is sure to dazzle and delight.

At the heart of the production are the students who bring the story to life with their passion, dedication, and raw talent. From the leads to the ensemble cast, each performer has poured their heart and soul into perfecting their roles, embodying characters that will resonate with audiences of all ages.

Leading the cast are Tanner White and Amber Pearson, who shine in their portrayal of Belle and Beast. They are joined by Adam Mickelson, Gabe Proctor, James Pearson, Vic Overby, Aspen Probert, Emily Bell, Annika Smith, and Jourdyn Fercho, who round out the lead roles. With their exceptional vocal prowess, captivating stage presence, and emotional depth, these students are set to leave a lasting impression on all who witness their performances.

But it wasn't just the lead roles that stole the spotlight. The ensemble cast, comprised of talented performers from as young as seventh-grade, delivers powerhouse performances that showcase the depth of talent within the school community. From the energetic dance numbers to the poignant ensemble scenes, every member of the cast plays an integral role in the production's success.

Behind the scenes, the dedicated cast, stage managers, and tech crew worked tirelessly to ensure that every aspect of the production ran smoothly. From the intricately designed sets to the creative costumes and the flawless sound and lighting, their efforts were instrumental in creating a seamless and immersive experience for the audience.

Through all of their hard work and dedication, the cast and crew of 33 students have created a community that they look forward to working with each day. “We have been able to create a big, weird family,” says Gabe Proctor, Junior, “We’ve been given the opportunity to make a safe place to be our authentic selves.”

“We were given the creative freedom to create an immersive experience,” Sophomore Annika Smith says, “we got to make the magic that drew us to this experience as kids. We are very excited to be able to inspire future generations.”

As the curtain rises on opening night, the stage will be set, the lights will dim, and the magic of "Beauty and the Beast" will transport audiences to a fairytale forest filled with wonder, excitement and adventure!

Performances are Thursday, March 21st at 7 pm, Friday, March 22nd at 7 pm, Saturday, March 23rd at 7 pm, and a Matinee Sunday, March 24th at 4 pm. Tickets are for sale at the door, Adults $15 and Students $10, and kids under kindergarten age are free!

Limited Concessions will be available, all proceeds go back to the drama department!
